feat: host events with an issue-like page, a Watch-style going button and a milestone agenda - #997
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
This change adds event creation, discovery, attendance responses, and cancellation. Events link to commits and can include agendas. It adds event listings on profiles, event displays in commit views, cancellation notifications, moderation coverage, export support, and deletion handling.
Changes: Events
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Event data and persistence app/Dto/NewEvent.php, app/Enums/Event*.php, app/Models/Event*.php, app/Models/Commit.php, app/Models/User.php, database/migrations/*event*, database/factories/Event*.php, resources/js/types/event.ts, resources/js/types/commit.ts, resources/js/types/index.ts, tests/Unit/Actions/DeleteUserTest.php
Adds event, agenda, and attendee models, relationships, database tables, factories, and client types. Events have state and response values. Account deletion removes hosted events and attendance records.
Adds event validation and persistence, creation routes and form, and event details to moderation input. The form converts entered times using the selected time zone.
Adds Going and Interested responses, response removal, and host cancellation for upcoming or live events. Cancellation sends notifications to Going attendees.
Exports and deletion app/Actions/CreateExport.php, app/Actions/DeleteCommitContent.php, tests/Feature/Controllers/ExportControllerTest.php, tests/Unit/Actions/*Test.php
Adds hosted events and the user’s event responses to exports. Event content is deleted with its associated commit or account.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 053bb
The new moderation test does not create an administrator and can fail instead of verifying event details. Correct the test before merging.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 053bb
Events reuse existing ownership and moderation controls. The reviewed paths preserve private Interested responses and current-user export scoping. A narrow attendance-versus-cancellation race can bypass the event’s closed state and miss a cancellation notice, but its impact is limited to attendance consistency.
Retained concerns
Low · architecture · inferred: A response can pass OpenEvent validation before host cancellation, then persist after cancellation has scanned recipients. Neither the attendance upsert nor cancellation revalidates under a shared transition lock. The resulting response can alter the cancelled event’s public Going count without receiving a cancellation notice. This weakens the host-controlled terminal-state contract, although the caller can change only their own attendance row.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
observed — The inspected mutation paths separate host authority over cancellation from user authority over their own response. Attendance removal is also constrained to the current user’s row; neither action accepts a request-selected attendance owner.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
inferred — A signed-in attendee can have an in-flight response accepted across cancellation because the state check precedes an independent upsert. The supported consequence is a late attendance mutation and potentially missed notice, not another user’s response disclosure or acquisition of host authority.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The export endpoint remains authenticated and passes the injected current user to the export action. Its response is private and no-store, and the newly exported attendance is scoped to that user’s relationship.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Irreversible commit-content deletion removes the associated event. Event and user foreign-key cascades clean up dependent attendance, preserving record ownership rather than leaving independently retained response rows.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Serialize attendance admission and cancellation against the same event row, rechecking state inside that boundary. This would make every accepted Going response either precede cancellation’s recipient selection or be rejected after closure.

Create the moderator with handle, not username.
username is not a profile attribute, so the factory does not set the user's handle. User::isAdmin() compares handle with config('app.admins'), which this test sets to ['admin'].
