## [Unreleased]

## [0.3.25-alpha] - 2026-09-30

> **Alpha:** MonoCode Linux is in Alpha. Expect breaking changes,
> incomplete features, and rough edges — please report issues.

### Added

- Morph icons, behind an Experimental flag: the icons morph into their
counterpart instead of swapping, with the Tier 1 pairs wired and the rest
held back.
- Subagent rows are labelled with the agent the server names. Without it
every row fell back to the literal "Subagent", so three runs on one screen
were three rows saying the same thing, and the mascot followed nothing.
A named agent labels its run, and the mascot follows it.

### Fixed

- Git and the clipboard helpers inherited the AppImage's `LD_LIBRARY_PATH`,
whose bundled libraries shadow the host ones a child links against, so the
child died with a symbol lookup error. For `git diff --no-index --numstat`
the failure was invisible: it returns "nothing changed", so session changes
showed 0 additions and 0 deletions. The same applied to the clipboard, where
a dead helper reads as "this one yielded, try the next", so the user was
told no clipboard helper was installed while wl-clipboard worked.
- A V2 block now carries its own role, so a subagent session that never sends
a `message.updated` streams its work live. A turn of minutes used to show
only "working for 3m 37s" and then dump everything at once, because the
mirror dropped every block whose role it had not heard about, and the guard
was a bare `return`.
- A later V2 block no longer un-hides a hidden message. `message.updated` is
the only event that knows which agent owns a message, and it records a
compaction turn as hidden; a block naming the same message carried only
`assistant`, so the summarisation text the mirror drops on purpose streamed
instead.
- The pty leaked two descriptors per failed attach, for the life of the
process. `open_pty` returns bare `i32`s with no owner, so a `dup` failure
skipped the cleanup its own error paths already had.
- A morph icons write that did not persist was still announced, so listeners
got a change `loadMorphIconsEnabled` does not confirm and the preference
reverted on the next boot. The toggle now moves only when the write landed.
- A failed update said "could not apply the update" for every failure, and in
two of the cases where the folder was writable added an instruction to
reinstall per-user into `~/.local/bin` when that folder was never the
problem. The About line now says which step failed, and when a permission
is the cause it names the real folder. The message comes from a probe that
measures the install: `tauri-plugin-updater` wraps `std::io::Error`
transparently, so the app only ever receives what the kernel said, in the
kernel's language, with no path. The five patterns the old text matched on
could not match that string, and the test that appeared to cover them
injected a Portuguese message with a path in it, which the plugin does not
produce.
- The blue border on a menu row was WebKitGTK's own focus ring. The menu asked
for `autoFocus`, which took the first focusable thing inside it, and that row
carried no focus style at all. Focus now stays on the menu container and the
active row is named with `aria-activedescendant`. 41 menu rows across 24
files had neither `outline-none` nor the project's ring, so keyboard focus
on any of them drew the engine's ring; all of them carry the convention
now, both halves of it.
- Moving the access menu's focus to its list took away the only cue the arrow
keys had, because the active row and the selected row shared the same
background. The active row carries the accent ring now. A consequence worth
knowing: Tab out of the menu now leaves it instead of walking the rows, which
is how the model list, the file mentions and the search select already
behaved.

### Changed

- The Rust tests run serially. The suite forks and execs real processes and
shares one `/tmp` and one process environment, so a parallel run handed the
same path or descriptor to two tests: about 2 failures in 25 runs. The whole
suite takes about 8s either way.

### Removed

- The chat background effect, along with its six pixel algorithms and the
worker behind them. The image stays, and so do the scope, the two
visibilities and the blur. It was added three releases ago and the review
surface around it never settled.
- All design rationale now lives in `docs/notes/`, with `src/hooks/` and
`src/app/` migrated and zero prose comments left in them. The rule is
enforced by review, since the anchor guard only checks that pointers
resolve.

Review comment at @packaging/archlinux/monocode/.SRCINFO at line 3:
Regenerate both .SRCINFO files from their corresponding PKGBUILD files so their
source records match the v0.3.25-alpha release: update
packaging/archlinux/monocode/.SRCINFO at line 3 and
packaging/aur/monocode-bin/.SRCINFO at line 3.

Review comment at @packaging/aur/monocode-bin/PKGBUILD at line 8:
Update the sha256sums entry in the PKGBUILD to match the AppImage downloaded
using _upstreamver, recalculating the hash for the new artifact before
publishing.
