Thanks, good idea, wrong spot. Hardcoded on the validator it's a no-op on an already-synced volume (the node logs Can't use warp sync mode with a partially synced database), and on a fresh deploy it leaves the node without block bodies for history, not something we want as the default on an authoring node.

We'll land it as a SYNC_MODE env var, empty by default, so SYNC_MODE=--sync warp is there for bootstrapping a new validator. Closing in favor of that, credit to you for raising it.
