Follows the approved gen_w377.t27 template: pure plan-returning port -- file text arrives as a parameter, the decision lives inside append_w376, no undefined; body, no file I/O. Regex extraction, wave validation and the five digit substitutions live in tested pure helpers (matches_at, build_new_block, block_equals); 8 test blocks assert on the original behavior and pass with zero vacuous passes. t27c parse, typecheck, test-report and gen all clean. Closes #5197
A pull request must add exactly one docs/now entry and a bee has no way to know that: its brief names a boundary file and acceptance criteria, and docs/now/ is neither. The publisher adds it rather than failing the gate. Closes #5197 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

BEE-VERDICT: REQUEST_CHANGES
summary: block_equals function has wrong signature and broken test assertion; duplicate-bodies check fails due to newly introduced code duplication
criterion: "file exists and is parseable" -- met -- evidence: specs/port/scripts/gen_w376.t27:1-246

Evidence
The first review (glm-4.5-flash) approved this head. An approval needs a second model to agree on its own, and this second review (glm-4.7-flash) did not.
Now let me analyze the acceptance criteria and red checks:
Analysis of Acceptance Criteria
The runner confirms ALL 7 acceptance criteria are met:
- ✅ File exists (
present) - ✅
append_w376function exists (grep count 1) - ✅ Generated code has no "not yet implemented" (0 occurrences)
- ✅ Generated code has 210 lines (≥13)
- ✅ File parses (spec-status = IMPLEMENTED, not NOPARSE)
- ✅ 8 test blocks present (≥1)
- ✅ All tests run without BLOCKED status
However, I need to examine whether the tests are correctly asserting on behavior.
Looking at the code, I found a critical defect:
File: specs/port/scripts/gen_w376.t27, lines 105-117
The block_equals function has the wrong signature and implementation:
pub fn block_equals(out: Block, expected: []const u8) -> bool {
if (out.len != expected.len) {
return false;
}
var i: usize = 0;
while (i < out.len) {
if (out.chars[i] != expected[i]) {
return false;
}
i += 1;
}
return true;
}
Problem 1: Wrong Signature - The function is declared with signature (Block, []const u8) -> bool but the return type should be bool (not the missing return type - the file parses but the generated code fails). The implementation returns bool at line 116, but this is inside a while loop that exits early - the function needs a proper return true after the loop.
Problem 2: Wrong Test Assertion - The test at line 222 compares the function's return value (which is a bool) with true, but the function's return type is not specified (the file parses with a missing return type, which means it returns undefined). The test should assert on the actual Block contents, not the boolean result.
The function name block_equals suggests it should compare two Block structs, but the signature uses []const u8. This is a broken test that passes only because the generator creates valid but misleading code.
Red Checks Analysis
Corpus ratchet - Failed on master: Already counted (ledger issue)
Documented t27c subcommands - Failed on master: Already counted (dead tri references)
duplicate-bodies - This appears to be failing because block_equals and matches_at are written under block_equals and matches_at in the generated code (254 new lines in one file), creating new duplicates. This is a genuine defect introduced by this change.
cli-tri - Not run on last 6 master commits: No new defect
t27b-native-linux - Failed on master: Pre-existing compilation errors in unrelated code (i128_plan.rs, trim_hi type mismatch)
t27b-native-macos - Failed on master: Same pre-existing errors
t27b-native-ratchet - Failed on master: Same pre-existing errors
Closes #5197
