docs: add the v2.19.2 changes and the kernel's Assisted-by decision - #58
Conversation
The changelog gets a v2.19.2 entry and a Highlights row. CC013 and the policy guide name the Copilot coding agent's Agent-Logs-Url trailer and its copilot-swe-agent[bot] co-author line. CC202 documents the skip when the rebase target does not resolve, and CC401 the remote tag name a pre-push line creates. The options reference and the exit-code table describe the wrong-type config errors, and the output section says commit text is printed inert. The Linux kernel's maintainers decided in October 2026 to drop the Assisted-by tag, so the AI-attribution article, CC014 and the policy guide no longer list the kernel as asking for it. Its rule against AI sign-offs stays.

Limit the cursor claim to escape sequences.
Line 241 leaves newline and tab unescaped. Both can move the terminal cursor, so this claim is too broad. Specify that commit text cannot use escape sequences to reposition the cursor.

Before: the homepage's main button opened the Action guide, and the
"Where it runs" cards highlighted the Action ("Most teams start here").
The Team plan card linked the App repository, which is private, so
visitors got a 404. The AI attribution article and Getting started never
pointed GitHub users at the App first.
After: the main button installs the GitHub App, and the App takes the
highlighted middle card ("Fastest to set up"); the Action keeps its card
next to it. The Team card links the App guide's Plans section and says
what that section already says: until the plan launches, the App checks
an organization's private repositories at no charge. The article and
Getting started point GitHub users at the App before the CLI setup.
The App installs today from https://github.com/apps/commit-check, so the
site should send GitHub visitors there first.
| | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Hero button | "Add to GitHub Actions", opens the Action guide |
"Install the GitHub App", opens github.com/apps/commit-check |
| Where it runs | Action in the highlighted middle card, "Most teams
start here" | App in the highlighted middle card, "Fastest to set up";
Action unflagged next to it |
| Team plan card | "Until then, the Action covers private repositories
for free." Link: the private App repository (404) | "Until it launches,
the App checks them at no charge." Link: the App guide's Plans section |
| AI attribution article | Goes straight to the `pip install` try-out |
A paragraph first: install the App, commit a `cchk.toml` that sets
`ai_attribution`; free for public repositories and personal accounts |
| Getting started | No mention of the App before the CLI setup | A tip,
"On GitHub and want nothing to install?", with the install link |
| `docs/example.md` | "cannot move the terminal's cursor" | "cannot send
control sequences to the terminal" (CodeRabbit's note on #58: newline
and tab still move the cursor) |
How: text and link changes only, in `docs/index.md`, the article,
`docs/getting-started.md` and `docs/example.md`. `mkdocs build --strict`
and `pytest tests/` pass locally, and the built App guide has the
`#plans` anchor the Team card links to.

Before: the site had no v2.19.2 changelog entry. CC013 did not mention the Copilot coding agent, and nothing described the new config-type errors, CC202's skip, the remote tag name CC401 now checks, or the inert text output. The AI-attribution article, CC014 and the policy guide still listed the Linux kernel as asking for
Assisted-by:.After: every user-visible change in v2.19.2 is documented where a reader would look for it. The kernel is described as dropping the tag.
This is the follow-up #57 left out: CC013 and the Copilot coding agent, the wrong-type config errors, the changelog, and the kernel cell in the article.
Agent-Logs-Url:trailer and thecopilot-swe-agent[bot]co-author line (#632)reason, not a pass (#617)pre-pushnames"false"counts as true (#624)\xNNand a leading::as\::; JSON unchanged (#620)Assisted-by:)"The kernel change follows the October 9 patch on LKML. docs.kernel.org (7.3.0-rc7) still shows the old text until it lands, so the article says the maintainers decided, not that the docs changed.
How: every new sample is a transcript from commit-check 2.19.2. For example, with
subject_max_length = "50"incchk.toml:The command exits with 2.
python -m pytest tests/ -qpasses against 2.19.2 (10 tests), andmkdocs build --strictpasses; it was run withSOCIAL_CARDS=falsebecause the build machine could not reach Google Fonts. Blog pins are untouched.Summary by CodeRabbit
