Serve FAL as one queue OpenAPI document; add GET /v1/providers/{provider} - #573
GET /v1/openapi/fal with no selector now returns one queue document: POST /{endpoint_id} and GET /{endpoint_id}/requests/{request_id} on https://queue.fal.run. endpoint_id enumerates every live model with a stored input schema (slashes stay path segments, x-modelschemas-encode: raw). Bodies are untyped; the description points at each model's own schema route. No cap applies because nothing is inlined.
?activity= narrows the enum to that activity and inlines each model's own request and response schema as a named component (x-modelschemas-model; several models become a oneOf), up to 1024 models. A model with no stored endpoint is left out of the enum.
?model= still returns that model's two concrete paths.
?category= is not a selector. FAL's published category stays on the model row as providerMetadata.category; its target side is the activity, which is the cross-provider selector.
New GET /v1/providers/{provider}: the provider's status row, spec grain, links, and activities, live model counts per activity (the ?activity= values). Typed Provider component; provider link on /v1. The list gains _links.self per row.
AsyncAPI rows and deprecated rows are left out. A selector that matches nothing returns 400 spec_requires_selector.

Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added provider detail pages with status, model counts, activity breakdowns, and related links.
FAL OpenAPI documents can now describe models in a combined queue document. Filter by activity to include model-specific schemas, or select a model to view its paths.
Documentation
Updated API guidance with provider detail and FAL queue document selection options, limits, and request-body behavior.

Walkthrough
The change adds provider-detail catalog responses and updates provider OpenAPI assembly for combined queue documents. Queue documents support raw model IDs, optional activity selection, and per-model schemas. The route tree, OpenAPI descriptions, tests, and quickstart documentation reflect these changes.
Eligible model-grained providers can expose a combined queue document. It uses raw model IDs in endpoint paths, leaves bodies untyped without a selector, and adds per-model schemas for activity selections. Activity-filtered queue documents support up to 1024 paths.
GET /v1/providers/{provider} returns provider details, live model counts by activity, and HAL links. Unknown providers return a 404. The provider-models route is now nested under the provider route.
TanStack/modelschemas#566: It changes how the OpenAPI handler serves assembly results, while this PR changes assembly behavior and adds a provider-detail route.
Merge Risk: Low · previous review 19509
Some valid FAL requests may fail strict validation of an activity-selected document. The risk is bounded, but the schema union should be corrected or its exclusive-matching behavior explicitly accepted.

Explanation
The title "Serve FAL as one queue OpenAPI document; add GET /v1/providers/{provider}" names both main changes in the changeset: the FAL queue OpenAPI document and the new provider detail route. The summary and objectives confirm both. The title is specific and concise. The commit history shows the approach changed from a category selector to an unselected queue document narrowed by activity. The title matches the final behavior described in the raw summary, not the PR description's category selector.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #561 requires GET /v1/openapi/fal?category=... to select models by each model row's providerMetadata.category, return one queue document, retain per-model body schemas, and support categories larger than 40 endpoints. The reviewed changes instead state that category is not a selector, use activity for narrowing, and make the unselected document include every live model. The tests and implementation summary confirm this behavior. The queue document and 1024-model activity limit address the queue shape and scale, but they do not implement the required category selector.
Resolution
Implement and test ?category= selection from providerMetadata.category. Return the required single queue document with per-model schemas and a limit that supports large categories. Add tests for matching and non-matching categories, including the 400 spec_requires_selector response.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The pull request adds GET /v1/providers/{provider} with provider status, links, specification metadata, and activity counts. Issue #561 concerns only category selection and queue OpenAPI generation for FAL. The provider detail resource, route hierarchy, catalog method, and related documentation and tests have no stated connection to that issue.
Resolution
Remove the provider-detail resource and its route, catalog, documentation, and tests from this pull request, or link them to a separate issue and submit them separately.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 58.33% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 12 functions across 13 files. Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Replace the nested scan in selectQueueEndpoints with indexed lookups.
For each endpoint, the loop scans pending until it finds a match. endpointMatchesModel also allocates a /${rawId} string on each call. The unfiltered (lean) document selects every live FAL model. That is O(endpoints × models) work and millions of string allocations on each cache miss.
Index the raw IDs. Then test endpoint.id, endpoint.path, and endpoint.path without its leading / against the set. The matching rules stay the same, and the cost is O(endpoints).
Proposed refactor
const pending = new Set(rawIds)
const selected: Array<LoadedEndpoint> = []
for (const endpoint of loaded) {
- let matched: string | undefined- for (const rawId of pending) {- if (!endpointMatchesModel(endpoint.id, endpoint.path, rawId)) continue- matched = rawId- break- }+ const candidates = [+ endpoint.id,+ endpoint.path,+ endpoint.path.startsWith('/') ? endpoint.path.slice(1) : endpoint.path,+ ]+ const matched = candidates.find((candidate) => pending.has(candidate))
if (matched === undefined) continue
pending.delete(matched)
selected.push({ ...endpoint, modelRawId: matched })
}

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Use anyOf instead of oneOf for the per-model body union.
The endpoint_id path parameter selects the model. The request body does not carry a discriminator. Many FAL models share the same body shape, for example a single prompt string. A body that is valid for two model schemas matches two oneOf branches. A strict validator then rejects that body, although it is valid for the selected model.
anyOf requires at least one branch to match. That is the correct contract here. The same applies to the result schema built from outputRefs.
If you change this, update these assertions that expect oneOf:
The PR description says multiple models use oneOf. Confirm that this is not a hard requirement for a downstream generator before you change it.

GET /v1/openapi/fal with no selector is one queue document for every
live model: POST /{endpoint_id} and GET /{endpoint_id}/requests/{request_id},
endpoint_id enumerating the models, bodies untyped. ?activity= narrows
the enum and inlines each model's own body schema (anyOf, cap 1024);
?model= is that model's paths as before. The bare document fetches
schema presence only. A result left untyped says how many models lack an
output schema and where to find one.
GET /v1/providers/{provider} is the detail resource: the status row, spec
grain, links, and live model counts per activity.
