fix(console): show the latest provable daily change across month edge - #1005
Qoder Desktop agent (AI-assisted); the change was read back as a diff and run through the repository checks below.
What changed
The Overview "latest daily asset change" card requested only the browser's current month. On the first days of a month that month is empty while the cohort's as_of still names a newer observation in the previous month, so the card rendered an unknown value for data that does exist. An empty single-month calendar is a request boundary, not evidence that no daily change exists.
The card now follows up once to the month named by as_of, and only when the requested month is genuinely empty: the follow-up target is always strictly earlier than the requested month, so it can never re-resolve to its own month. A failed or empty follow-up leaves the requested month on screen instead of reporting a read failure or claiming there is no data.
The runs card also labeled a weekend "New York business day", contradicting the non-trading badge next to it. The date prefix now follows the API-provided market_session rather than the browser weekday, because a browser-local day can disagree with New York.
web/strategy-switch-console/frontend/src/pages/overview/OverviewPage.tsx — carryoverMonthForLatestDay(), shared datedValueCells(), carry-over props on LastDayKpi, session-driven date label.
web/strategy-switch-console/frontend/src/i18n/pages/overview.ts — one overview.calendar_date key in each language.
web/strategy-switch-console/v2_asset_map.js — regenerated by npm run sync:v2-assets, not hand-edited.
tests/fe8a_overview_runtime_ui_validation.mjs — regression coverage for the carry-over rule and the weekend wording.
No API contract, schema, currency handling or FX aggregation semantics changed: mixed_currency, no_common_date and snapshot_history_missing remain the documented refusals they are.
How verified
Run locally from the repository root:
npx tsc --noEmit — clean.
npm run build — succeeded, "Size budget OK".
npm run sync:v2-assets then node tests/console_v2_assets_validation.mjs — PASS (76 references; 26 assets served); git diff --exit-code -- web/strategy-switch-console/v2_asset_map.js is clean after regeneration.
node tests/console_v2_i18n_validation.mjs — PASS (1416 locale entries), zh/en parity holds for the new key.
node --test tests/fe8a_overview_runtime_ui_validation.mjs — 1 pass, 0 fail. New assertions cover: empty current month resolves to the as_of month and shows its real value, a month that already has values and a later month both resolve to no follow-up, a nullas_of and the year view stay put, the loading state never announces "No data" first, and a failed follow-up falls back instead of claiming a read failure.
node tests/console_calendar_currency_validation.mjs, console_calendar_fallback_validation.mjs, console_external_flow_validation.mjs, console_account_state_validation.mjs, console_inbox_requests_validation.mjs, display_names_validation.mjs — all PASS.
python3 scripts/check_style.py — exit 0; the one advisory (README.md: section 3 outline not followed) is pre-existing and outside this change.
Limits that remain: the Worker environment CONSOLE_EXTERNAL_FLOW_ENABLED is still off, so TWR, per-currency return curves and cash-flow coverage are unchanged by this PR and stay gated on brokers pushing external flows. Broker snapshot history backfill and the unconnected recovery reconciliation source are upstream of the console. Post-deploy live comparison is blocked for now because the console session returns 401 and re-authentication is the owner's action.

Bug Fixes
The overview now displays the latest available calendar data when the current month has no dated values through today.
Follow-up calendar requests show a loading state; if the request fails or returns no data, the current month’s state remains visible.
Run dates now use calendar dates for weekends and business dates for other market sessions.
The Overview "latest daily asset change" card asked for the browser's
current month only, so the first days of every month displayed an empty
calendar even though the cohort's `as_of` named a newer observation in
the previous month. An empty current month is a request boundary, not
evidence that no daily change exists; the card now follows up once to the
month named by `as_of` and never re-resolves to its own month.
The runs card also labeled a weekend "New York business day", which
contradicted the non-trading badge next to it. The wording now follows
the API-provided session instead of the browser weekday.

Walkthrough
The overview page now requests an earlier calendar month when the requested month lacks eligible dated values. It displays carryover request states and selects weekend or business-date labels based on market session.

Summary
Eligible dates and carryover selection web/strategy-switch-console/frontend/src/pages/overview/OverviewPage.tsx
The page filters calendar values to dated entries with non-null amounts or returns through today. It identifies an earlier valid as_of month when the requested month has no eligible value.
Carryover request and KPI rendering web/strategy-switch-console/frontend/src/pages/overview/OverviewPage.tsx, tests/fe8a_overview_runtime_ui_validation.mjs
The page conditionally requests the identified month and passes its state to LastDayKpi. Tests cover carryover selection, resolved and loading states, and fallback behavior.
Market-session date labels web/strategy-switch-console/frontend/src/pages/overview/OverviewPage.tsx, web/strategy-switch-console/frontend/src/i18n/pages/overview.ts, tests/fe8a_overview_runtime_ui_validation.mjs
RunsKpi uses the calendar-date label for weekends and the business-date label for other sessions. English and Chinese translations and assertions cover both labels.
The card may briefly show no data during a follow-up, and a weekend date may be mislabeled when the session is missing. These are bounded display issues.

The carry-over month is decided while rendering, but useApi only commits its
new request from an effect, so one frame rendered the known-empty month and
flashed an unknown value before the skeleton. Anything not yet resolved now
stays in flight; only an explicit follow-up failure falls back to the month
that was asked for.
market_session is optional, so a payload that never reports a session must
not be handed a trading claim. Only an explicit trading day is labelled a
business day now; an unreported session reads as a plain date.
Both merge-risk notes from the review are addressed in 44eb35b, plus the docstring-coverage warning:
Carry-over flash — confirmed real. carryoverMonthForLatestDay resolves during render while useApi only commits its new request from an effect, so the intermediate frame rendered the known-empty requested month before the skeleton. Any carry-over that is not yet resolved now stays in flight; only an explicit follow-up failure falls back to the month that was asked for.
Weekend label with a missing session — market_session is optional in the contract, and the first version asserted a business day whenever it was absent. The polarity is inverted: only an explicit trading_day is labelled a business day, an unreported session reads as a plain date.
Docstrings added to the two touched components.
tests/fe8a_overview_runtime_ui_validation.mjs now pins all three: the pre-effect frame renders neither a dash nor "No data", a missing session never yields the business-day wording, and a failed follow-up still falls back.

Applying owner-approved on the owner's instruction in this session, not from a human click on the review UI: the review's only findings are the two Minor ones above, both already implemented verbatim in 44eb35b, and the incremental re-review of that commit is blocked by the free OSS review limit. Recording the provenance here so the label does not read as a manual approval of an audited head.
