Composes the discovery package into a usable product surface:
This is PR 5 of 5 functionality-based PRs. It targets main directly and is not stacked on another feature branch. It remains draft until the functional stages arrive through main.
Validation of the combined five-PR result: 218 tests passed; Ruff passed.
Replaces the integration and unit-test work from closed PRs #103-#104. Closed PR #105 is intentionally excluded because it contained untested, machine-specific intermediate run output.
