Currently, Matter over WiFi devices can be added via the Home Assistant App or via the Python Matter Server WebView.
- The app can automatically discover Home Assistant on the local network.
- If you have previously connected to another HA instance, delete the old configuration first.
- In the app, go to
Menu → Settings → Devices & Services → Add Integration → Add Matter device → "No, it's new".
- Put the Matter device into pairing mode (follow the device's own instructions).
- Choose "Open Camera here" or "Setup without QR code" to add the device.
- Follow the app prompts to complete device addition.
⚠️ This is not a standard method and may not work for all Matter devices. If it fails after one retry, use the Home Assistant App instead.
- In your browser, enter
http://<ip_address>:5580to access the Python Matter Server. - Click "Commission node" → "Commission new WiFi device".
- For the first operation, enter the SSID and password of the WiFi network.
- Put the Matter device into pairing mode.
- Enter the device's manual code and click "Commission".
- Wait for commissioning to complete.
