InfiniteBlocks

A Paper plugin that gives players infinite-use placeable blocks. Blocks placed with an infinite item are automatically restored to the player's hand after placement, so the stack never runs out. Blocks are organized into color-themed schemes with custom gradient item names and lore, and players can trade spent infinite blocks in for randomized key rewards through an in-game GUI.

Requires: Paper 1.21.1+, Java 21

Features

  • Infinite-use blocks: place a block and it's instantly restored to your hand (main-hand and off-hand both supported), including a special-cased safety net for mushroom blocks, which Minecraft consumes a tick after placement
  • Block Selector GUI (/ib get): browse every placeable block and non-block item (seeds, crops, nether wart, etc.) across a paginated 54-slot menu, with a chat-driven search mode
  • Color-themed schemes: each scheme defines a name gradient, item lore, and an assigned list of blocks; placing an infinite block auto-corrects its colors to whichever scheme currently owns that block type
  • Chat-based scheme creation (/ib scheme create <name>): pass a Birdflop or #RRGGBB gradient string as the name, then add lore lines by typing them in chat, one per message
  • Scheme management GUI (/ib scheme): browse, manage-blocks, or delete existing schemes (with a right-click-twice delete confirmation)
  • Chat-based "Add Block" flow: from a scheme's block list GUI, click Add Block to Config and type a material name in chat to assign it to that scheme (typing cancel backs out)
  • Trade-in system (/ib trade): turn in infinite blocks 3-at-a-time for randomized (or recipe-guaranteed) key items, with a confirm screen before the trade is finalized
  • Trade key setup GUI (/ib trade setup, admin): configure any number of key rewards, each with its own weight, optional bonus-chance roll, and an optional exact-material "recipe" that guarantees that key instead of a random draw
  • Monthly block variant (/ib getmonthly, admin): gives an infinite block additionally tagged as a "monthly" reward item
  • Legacy item support: infinite blocks tagged by an older version of the plugin are still recognized and still restore correctly

Commands

Base command: /infblocks (aliases: /ib, /infiniteblock)

Command Description Permission
/ib List available subcommands infiniteblocks.use
/ib get Open the block selector GUI infiniteblocks.use
/ib get <player> <block> <amount> Give a player infinite blocks directly infiniteblocks.admin
/ib getmonthly <player> <block> <amount> Give infinite blocks tagged as a monthly reward infiniteblocks.admin
/ib trade Open the block trade-in GUI infiniteblocks.use
/ib trade setup Configure trade key rewards infiniteblocks.admin
/ib scheme Open the scheme management GUI infiniteblocks.use
/ib scheme create <name> Create a new scheme (name must include Birdflop/#RRGGBB colors) infiniteblocks.use
/ib scheme remove <scheme> Delete a scheme (default scheme cannot be removed) infiniteblocks.use
/ib scheme addblock <scheme> [material|container] Add block(s) to a scheme: from your hand, a named material, or every block in a container you're looking at infiniteblocks.use
/ib scheme removeblock <scheme> [material|container] Remove block(s) from a scheme, same targeting options infiniteblocks.use
/ib reload Reload schemes.yml infiniteblocks.reload

Every subcommand also requires the base infiniteblocks.use permission on the command itself (see Permissions below).

Permissions

Permission Default Description
infiniteblocks.use op Required to run /infblocks at all (declared as the command's permission in plugin.yml)
infiniteblocks.admin op Unlocks get <player> <block> <amount>, getmonthly, and trade setup
infiniteblocks.reload op Unlocks /ib reload

All three default to op, so out of the box only server operators can use InfiniteBlocks at all. Grant infiniteblocks.use to a regular player group with your permissions plugin (e.g. LuckPerms) if you want everyone to be able to open the block selector and trade GUIs, while keeping infiniteblocks.admin and infiniteblocks.reload restricted to staff.

Schemes

Schemes define the color gradient and lore applied to infinite block items. Each block material is assigned to at most one scheme; the scheme is what gets applied whenever an infinite item of that block type is created (from the GUI, /ib get, or a restored placement). Schemes live in plugins/InfiniteBlocks/schemes.yml, generated from the bundled defaults on first launch; there is no separate config.yml.

Four schemes ship by default: pastel_rainbow, strange_wood, redstone, and server_colors (the default scheme, assigned to a large set of building blocks). Create new ones interactively via /ib scheme create <name> (the name must contain a Birdflop gradient string or a list of #RRGGBB codes), or manage existing ones through /ib scheme.
