Deepvale

An original cave-farming worker-placement board game. Play locally against bots (easy / normal / hard / cutthroat) or online with friends via room codes.

Run locally

npm install
npm start
# open http://localhost:3000

Deploy on Railway (serves the whole app)

  1. Push this folder to a GitHub repository (see below).
  2. Go to https://railway.app → New Project → Deploy from GitHub repo.
  3. Authorize Railway's GitHub app and pick the repo.
  4. Railway auto-detects the Node app (package.json → npm start). No config needed — server.js binds to process.env.PORT automatically.
  5. Once deployed: Settings → Networking → Generate Domain. That URL is your game.
  6. Every git push to the tracked branch redeploys automatically.

How multiplayer works

  • server.js serves the game files and runs a WebSocket relay.
  • One player clicks Multiplayer → Create room and shares the 4-letter code.
  • Up to 4 players total (humans + host-added bots). The host starts the game.
  • The host's browser runs the bots; the server relays game state between players.
  • If you disconnect, rejoin the same room code with the same name to resume.

Files

  • Deepvale.dc.html — the game UI (local + online)
  • engine.js — rules engine, scoring, bot AI (shared logic)
  • server.js — static file server + WebSocket room relay
  • assets/ — tile art and menu art
