Companion to RFC-0008 (MVP Skill Registry). Extends bundle membership to register non-skill content with a generic, free-form member_type field and adds trace integration for non-skill members. This is an intentionally lightweight draft covering introduction, motivation, and user journeys only. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Replace all "Phase 1" qualifiers with "this RFC" or remove where unnecessary. Replace "Phase 2" and "follow-up RFC" references with explicit links to RFC-0009: Extended Skill Bundles (PR mlflow#27). Restructure Adoption strategy from phased rollout into a description of what this RFC delivers plus a Future improvements subsection. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Rename CLI group to mlflow skills-registry, move bundle commands into bundles subgroup, add member_type schema migration text, frame --plugin-format as optional, resolve three open questions (member tags, filter expression, pluggable format parsers). Frees the 0009 slot for the skill tracing RFC, which is now the more urgent next RFC. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Align the draft with the merged RFC-0008. Retitle from Extended Skill Bundles to Extended Agent Plugins and rename the RFC directory to match. Cross-registry MCP server references become the headline: plugins reference registered MCP server versions (RFC-0004) the same way they reference registered skill versions, making dependency and deprecation-impact questions answerable across both registries. Other component types keep the generic member_type mechanism, with membership derived by import adapters and supplied on assembly, mirroring RFC-0008's existing split for skills. Tracing mechanics defer to RFC-0009. Detailed design and remaining sections are TBD pending stakeholder agreement on framing and journeys. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Status as of 2026-08-24: the draft has been rewritten around the canonical Agent Plugins model from the merged RFC-0008, retitled from "Extended Skill Bundles" to "Extended Agent Plugins," and the branch is synced with main. It currently contains the summary, problem statement, and user journeys; detailed design and the remaining sections are marked TBD and will not be worked on until the key stakeholders have agreed on the summary, problem statement, and user journeys. Summary
RFC-0010 proposes Extended Agent Plugins, a companion to RFC-0008 (Skill Registry) that extends agent plugin membership beyond skills, in two tiers that mirror the Agent Plugins standard:
member_typestring that MLflow treats as an opaque label, so new component types require no schema or API changes.Membership is derived by import adapters for imported plugins and supplied as references for assembled plugins, extending the split RFC-0008 established for skills. The plugin remains the governance unit; tracing mechanics defer to RFC-0009 (Skill Tracing, PR #37).
Naming note
This RFC was previously titled "Extended Skill Bundles" and numbered RFC-0009. It was renumbered to RFC-0010 (skill tracing took the 0009 slot) and retitled when the draft was rebuilt around the canonical Agent Plugins model that RFC-0008 merged with.
