RN Version Support Findings

Several of the flagged dependency updates relate directly to upcoming React Native 0.88 support:

• react-native-test-app (^5.4.8 → 5.4.12): Contains explicit RN 0.88 compatibility work:

  • fix: declare support for 0.88 — declares support for RN 0.88 across Android/iOS.
  • fix: support setup-env.js introduced in 0.88 — adapts to a new setup-env.js mechanism introduced in RN 0.88.

• react-native-gesture-handler (^3.1.0 → 3.3.0): Bump to React Native 0.88 (#4517) — in-progress example-app bump validating RNGH against RN 0.88 rc builds, tagged with the "New React Native version support" label.

• react-native-screens (^4.27.0 → 4.28.0): Two related iOS/tvOS example-app changes call out the RN 0.88+ scene-lifecycle layout (SceneDelegate owning reactNativeFactory) as the new upstream convention:

  • chore(iOS, FabricExample): use scene lifecycle by default (#4676)
  • chore(iOS, TVOSExample): use scene lifecycle by default (#4710)

• react-native-safe-area-context (^5.8.0 → 5.10.0): A prototype PR, feat: JS-only implementation on top of core safe area primitives (#752), targets a placeholder RN ≥ 0.88 gate tied to facebook/react-native#57967, which would let safe-area insets be reported natively by core without any native module code. Not yet ready to land, but signals upcoming architectural alignment with RN 0.88.

No other packages in the table (reanimated, datetimepicker, async-storage, webview, modal, etc.) showed direct evidence in recent commit/PR history of changes specifically tied to new React Native version support.
