AGP 8.11.1 incompatible with Gradle 9.x
High Severity
Bumping the Gradle wrapper to 9.8.0 while settings.gradle still declares com.android.application version "8.11.1" (AGP 8.11.1) will break the build. AGP 8.x requires Gradle 8.x; Gradle 9.x requires AGP 9.x. The Android Gradle Plugin needs to be upgraded to a 9.x release to be compatible with Gradle 9.8.0.

Gradle 9 removes deprecated buildDir property used in build files
High Severity
The root build.gradle uses rootProject.buildDir and project.buildDir (lines 8, 10, 17), which were deprecated in Gradle 7.1 and removed in Gradle 9.0. With this bump to Gradle 9.8.0, these references will fail. They need to be replaced with layout.buildDirectory (the ProjectLayout API).
