content: retire the futo river-no-backend slide - #166
Merged
Conversation
Its screenshot is live at /slides/futo/river-screenshot.png and carries three problems: - a DIRECT MESSAGES panel naming a contributor and their message list, on a public slide - a room topic reading "Atlas (search engine)", the same stale claim removed from the homepage hero in #165 - a pinned message stating the browser version is "centralized and thus somewhat misses the point of Freenet", which #125 (5077552) explicitly corrected. The site said one thing in prose and the opposite in an image. Found while reviewing the hero screenshot in #165; it is the same class of problem in a place that PR did not touch. Retired at Ian's direction rather than recaptured, since the talk is from July and River is still covered in the deck by private-rooms and private-rooms-limits immediately after. The slide HTML and its screenshot are deleted rather than kept, so this is noted separately from the existing "CUT for time (files kept)" block, which promises the opposite. Verified: the deck builds and serves 200 with 20 top-level slides (was 21), no broken images, no page errors, and no remaining reference to river-no-backend, futo/river-screenshot.png, "DIRECT MESSAGES" or "misses the point of Freenet" anywhere in the rendered output. Production currently serves that image at 309KB, so this removes something real. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Cwq3ZRYFqSW9rMtGJYqfo2

Why
/slides/futo/river-screenshot.pngis live (200, 309KB) and used by one slide in the July talk deck. It carries three problems:DIRECT MESSAGESpanel naming a contributor and their message list, on a public slide.Found while reviewing the hero screenshot in #165. It is the same class of problem in a place that PR did not touch.
Approach
Retired rather than recaptured, at Ian's direction. The talk is from July, and River is still covered in the deck by
private-roomsandprivate-rooms-limitsimmediately after, so the narrative does not gain a gap.The slide HTML and its screenshot are deleted, so this is noted separately from the existing
# CUT for time (files kept, restore by re-adding)block, which promises the opposite.Note the image remains in git history; this stops it being served, which is the part that matters.
Verification
Deck builds and serves 200 with 20 top-level slides (was 21), no broken images, no page errors, and no remaining reference to
river-no-backend,futo/river-screenshot.png,DIRECT MESSAGESormisses the point of Freenetanywhere in the rendered output.Production currently serves that image, so this removes something real rather than a dead file:
