📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe S3 output can use an Arrow JSON schema to convert MessagePack events to Arrow or Parquet. The change adds typed schema validation and conversion, connects it to columnar compression, and retains buffered data when schema-based conversion fails. ChangesSchema-driven S3 columnar output

Accept standard Arrow metadata members
When users supply a schema emitted in Arrow's integration JSON format, valid schema-level and field-level metadata members are rejected by keys_valid() because neither whitelist includes metadata; the S3 plugin then fails startup even when every field is a supported flat scalar type. The Arrow integration JSON specification defines these members and permits null or empty metadata, so accept and ignore them rather than rejecting the entire schema.

Keep the $INDEX sequence metadata under the mode-independent buffer root.
When parquet.schema_file is enabled, ctx->buffer_dir changes to <buffer-root>/msgpack before s3_store_init(). init_seq_index() then stores the sequence stream and seq_index_file under that schema-specific root. Without the schema, those paths use <buffer-root>.
Toggling the schema option can therefore make init_seq_index() create a new index at zero. $INDEX sets key_fmt_has_seq_index, which disables the random key suffix. The first new upload can reuse an existing S3 key and overwrite its object.
Store the sequence metadata in a metadata store rooted at the mode-independent buffer path. Use the /msgpack root only for schema-specific data. No existing code migrates or reads the sequence index from the other root.

nit: is it better to rename this buffer from json -> data? as this can now be msgpack as well.

Is restricting children to an empty array intentional?
Schemas containing nested struct, list, or map fields will basically get rejected during startup in that case right?
The only workaround I can think of to preserve a nested object seems to be declaring it as utf8, which will result it to be stored as a JSON string.
This prevents Parquet from exposing typed nested columns.
Is nested-type support planned for this PR or a follow-up? ( happy to pick it up if its planned as a follow up).
Implemented the optional Arrow JSON schema path via
parquet.schema_file.Verification: 16 integration tests passed normally and under strict Valgrind:
Core tests passed. One existing S3 runtime test failed intermittently, then passed in isolation.
Closes #12528.
