Problem
Currently, the battery icon on the top panel shows some rudimentary stats, but detailed data is not visible anywhere in Elementary os. You have to install a third party app such as Wattage or use terminal commands.
Proposal
To would be good to be able to see some energy/battery statistics in the monitor as a separate tab.
Basic statistics from upower would be good showing:
- Battery percentage
- Battery capacity (designed vs current)
- Battery state (charging / discharging)
- Charge cycles
- Time to empty / time to full
- Charge / Discharge rate
In addition, if powertop can be added into core elementary, it can even provide additional data such as per process battery use:
We could also track historical battery utilisation statistics and also show other battery powered accessory data (such as mice, controllers, headphones /earbuds etc..)
Prior Art (Optional)
Mac OS:
Gnome:
Windows 11:
