Why

The maintainer requested relevant Matt Pocock skills in the agentic-engineering plugin. No existing Matt Pocock issue was found in Agent Plugins, Agent Skills or the monorepo. Selected upstream techniques deepen discovery, design and prototyping within the existing delivery workflow.

Scope

Curate two skills from the MIT-licensed mattpocock/skills release v1.3.1: grilling and prototype. Keep complete upstream bodies and resources intact, with genuine native installer provenance and normal update support. The consumer contract governs authority, privacy, tooling, work selection, tests, review and merge.

Preserve the complete copyright and permission notice from the same source revision. Required package validation joins the recorded upstream skill tree to its resolved source commit and compares the distributed notice with that commit's LICENSE. A changed notice, stale tree or failed public read refuses validation until reviewed. This also protects later automatic update PRs; native skill updates do not refresh the sibling notice themselves.

Exclude incompatible candidates instead of modifying imported trees or weakening checks:

  • grill-me, grill-with-docs, to-questionnaire and improve-codebase-architecture: frontmatter unsupported by the pinned skill-spec validator.
  • diagnosing-bugs: a Bash template without the adjacent self-test required by this marketplace.
  • tdd: an unbundled code-review skill dependency that would introduce another review lifecycle.
  • domain-modeling: fixed glossary/ADR paths that can conflict with consumer conventions.
  • codebase-design: its alternative-design guide assumes a root GLOSSARY.md, which consumers need not have; defer until a portable upstream version is available.

Also exclude experimental and personal tooling, setup/hooks, tracker-specific triage/spec/implementation flows and separate PR/review policy. Package validation must examine the included YAML metadata while retaining refusal for unsupported or incomplete observations.

Acceptance criteria

  • Install the two complete trees with gh skill install, retaining upstream repository/path/ref/tree provenance and normal updates.
  • Preserve Matt Pocock's full MIT notice, credit the source, make no endorsement claim, and guard license drift in required package validation.
  • Document purpose and invocation within the existing engineer; update the catalogue, all cache-version manifests and changelog.
  • Pass the affected regressions and package/spec/version/changelog validation; verify the final isolated user installation.
  • Obtain current-head review and green required CI, merge, then verify delivered content.

This is curated packaging of existing upstream resources. No scheduler, role definition, hook or consumer authority change is included. The final scope supersedes the earlier candidates following review.

Delivered in #548, merged 2026-10-07 at 99640613bc1bf87b33fef72cb7cd0db58b980f58 from reviewed head 1f32b0b62f67bc7acc115e71117ed95c10a4a0e6.

    • Agentic-engineering 6.2.0 includes the complete grilling and prototype trees from Matt Pocock's MIT-licensed v1.3.1 release. Credit, full copyright/permission notice and native update provenance are retained; required validation refuses source or notice drift.
    • All 22 exact-head native CI checks settled without failures. Codex's final review names 1f32b0b62f and has no accompanying findings. All four review threads were resolved before the normal head-pinned squash merge.
    • Fetched main and independently verified that the merge's complete repository tree exactly matches the reviewed candidate. Installed all eight plugin skills from a fresh archive of the actual merge: every body and supporting file matches, and the complete MIT notice and all four 6.2.0 manifests are verified.
    • Issue Curate Matt Pocock skills for agentic engineering #547 is closed, all acceptance criteria are satisfied, and its project-board item is already Done. Excluded candidates remain documented; this does not claim global runtime activation or completion of broader native-plugin discovery work.
