fix: fade code blocks that continue beyond the commit preview - #1351
Folded commit previews made a shortened code block look complete, with a closed bottom border and a separate ellipsis. Shortened blocks now fade out toward Show more, making the hidden continuation clear.
Changes
Fade only blocks whose preview differs from their full code, using the existing full-code copy data.
Remove the standalone ellipsis after those blocks; keep it for complete blocks followed by hidden prose.
Keep the horizontal scrollbar outside the fade by masking the code content and decorative background separately.
Add rendering coverage and update the public knowledge base.
Copying while folded includes the hidden code. Expanding reveals the full block, removes its fade, and moves keyboard focus to the commit.
Visual evidence
Local fictional demo content. Original before captures use the production base; refreshed after captures add a wide-line fixture to exercise horizontal scrolling. Captured with T3 preview and device tools. Desktop CSS viewport sizes are 1440×900 and 1366×650; T3 scales desktop capture output. Mobile viewport emulation is 390×844. Both themes inspected.
iPhone 18 Pro Max simulator, iOS 27, Safari: verified folded fade, touch expansion, wrapping and scrolling beyond the first screen. Browser controls and bottom navigation leave Show more usable. No inputs changed; keyboard verification is inapplicable.
Simulator screenshots below show the refreshed revision. The earlier simulator recording is retained in the original media revision.

Limitations
No physical-device testing. Native macOS scrollbar thumb dragging was not verified; horizontal scroll input, wrapping and unmasked scrollbar ownership were verified. Warmed-cache measurements and sampled recording frames were used. Navigation and an unchanged-content polling cycle recorded no layout shifts. One initial-load sample recorded a small shift of 0.0000903; zero CLS is not established for every cache condition or viewport. Intentional expansion shifts with recent input were comparable to the baseline. New-content insertion and removal during polling were not exercised.

Updates
Folded commit previews now fade at the bottom of shortened code blocks and avoid an extra trailing ellipsis when the code block itself is truncated.
Code blocks retain their wrapped or unwrapped horizontal overflow behavior within the updated preview layout.
Documentation
Updated the description of folded posts; it no longer states that Show more avoids cutting through code. The 280-character and 8-line folding thresholds remain unchanged.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.

Walkthrough
Folded commit bodies now apply a bottom mask to shortened code blocks and remove a trailing ellipsis after those blocks. Tests cover shortened previews, hidden prose, and complete bodies. The documentation no longer claims folding avoids cutting through code.
When a code block has different full and preview HTML, rendering adds a bottom mask and preview processing removes a trailing ellipsis. The wrapper controls horizontal overflow. Tests cover shortened previews, hidden prose, and complete bodies. The documentation retains the folding threshold and removes the claim that folding avoids cutting through code.
The change is mergeable with no established unresolved risk requiring action before merge.
