docs: bring the site in step with v2.19.1 - #56
Conversation
Pins move to v2.19.1 and the changelog gains its entry and a highlights row. The pages now describe what 2.19.1 changed: develop is a built-in branch name, only tool-written merge subjects are exempt, a message file is judged without git's comments or -v diff, CC009 covers squash! and amend!, CC010 catches every WIP marker, CC012 needs a real trailer, CC002 and CC003 skip only an allowed type prefix, the config is found from a subdirectory, and a parent config is read up to 1 MiB.

- Line 316: Update the allow_branch_names example in the configuration table so
the TOML, environment, and CLI forms all allow the same branch names: staging
and production.
Review comments at @docs/guides/organization.md:
- Around line 85-86: Update the directory-resolution documentation around the
current-directory fallback to qualify that resolution is directory-independent
only when the adjacent path exists; otherwise, clarify the behavior without
claiming the fallback selects the same file from every working directory.
Review comments at @docs/guides/pre-commit.md:
- Around line 59-61: Update the guarantee around check-tag to apply only when
the tag target is reachable from a locally known remote-tracking ref; qualify
both the direct push and git push --follow-tags statements without implying that
server-side state is always detected.

Use the same branch names in every column of the allow_branch_names row, say that a relative inherit_from is the same from any directory only when it sits next to the config, and say that pre-commit judges what a push carries from the remote-tracking refs.
Before: every
rev:pin said v2.19.0 while PyPI serves 2.19.1, sodocs-syncwas red on main. The changelog stopped at 2.19.0. Several pages described 2.19.0 behaviour that 2.19.1 changed: CC201 saiddevelopneedsallow_branch_names, and the skip section said anyMergesubject is exempt. CC009 promised to rejectsquash!commits it let through, and nothing said a config is found from a subdirectory. After: pins say v2.19.1, the changelog has a v2.19.1 entry (2026-10-16) and a highlights row, and the pages describe what 2.19.1 does:
developamong the built-in names; the spec-strict config dropsallow_branch_names = ["develop"], and the examples usestaginginstead.Merge the parser rewriteis judged like any other.fixup!,squash!andamend!; CC010 catches any leadingWIPword or[WIP]; CC011 judges the message without git's comments or-vdiff; CC012 needs a real trailer line.inherit_fromlookup, the 1 MiB cap on a parent config, and the one-level limit. Two wording fixes left over from the 2.19.0 review ride along: policies.md says a bot-identity commit passes when its message "contains no recognized AI signature", and pre-commit.md says a tag sent by
--follow-tagsfor a commit the remote already has is not checked. How: every behaviour named above was run against the released 2.19.1 from PyPI before it was written down.
python -m pytest tests/ -qpasses against 2.19.1 (it failed only on the pins before), andmkdocs build --strictpasses. Blog posts are untouched, as AGENTS.md asks.Summary by CodeRabbit
