Long builder pages had Back / Next and the add buttons only at the top, so finishing a long page meant scrolling all the way back up.

What changes

  • Character builder: the Back / Next bar shows below the page too
  • The bottom Back and Next open the new page at its top (under the sticky header) and move focus to its title, so you don't land at the bottom of the next page
  • Homebrew builders: the add trait button repeats under a non-empty traits list
  • Selection builder: Add Option repeats under a non-empty options list
  • The top bar is unchanged

Checked

  • Real app, 390px phone, dark and light: the bar shows at the bottom of the Race page, and the bottom Next opens Class / Level with its title in view (144px from the top) and focused. 6 of 6 checks passed
  • Merges cleanly with integration (merged in, no conflicts)
  • Changelog folded into [Summer Patch]: two lines, under Characters and Homebrew

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added Back and Next controls at the bottom of character-builder pages, making navigation easier on long pages.
    • Added extra add buttons below non-empty lists of homebrew traits and options for quicker access.

- Character builder: the Back / Next bar shows above and below the page.
- Homebrew builders (option-traits): the add button repeats below a
non-empty traits list, on every builder that uses it.
- Selection builder: Add Option repeats below a non-empty options list.
They change the page, then scroll the builder to its top below the
sticky header and move focus to the page title, so a long page does
not leave the user at the bottom of the next one. The top bar is
unchanged.

📝 Walkthrough

The character builder now has Back and Next controls at the top and bottom of its pages. Bottom navigation scrolls to the options column and focuses the page title. Non-empty trait and option lists now include an additional add button below the list.

Changes: Character-builder controls

Layer / File(s) Summary
Page navigation
src/cljs/orcpub/character_builder.cljs, CHANGELOG.md
A shared navigation bar replaces the inline upper controls and adds a second bar below the page content. The lower bar scrolls to the options column and focuses the page title after navigation.
Repeated list add controls
src/cljs/orcpub/dnd/e5/views.cljs, CHANGELOG.md
Trait and option add buttons are extracted into reusable components. Each non-empty list now has an additional add button below its items. The changelog records both additions.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in CHANGELOG.md: Added changelog entries for bottom-of-page Back and Next controls in the character builder and repeated add buttons below long homebrew trait or option lists.
  • observed — Modified behavior in src/cljs/orcpub/dnd/e5/views.cljs: Adds add-trait-button, which dispatches the supplied event and uses the supplied title, or defaults to “add feature / trait” when the title is nil.
  • observed — Modified behavior in src/cljs/orcpub/dnd/e5/views.cljs: Replaces the inline trait-list add button with a call to add-trait-button; its event and title behavior remain the same.
  • observed — Modified behavior in src/cljs/orcpub/dnd/e5/views.cljs: Keeps the empty-list prompt and adds a right-aligned add-trait-button below a non-empty trait list.

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Dispatch the page change through a re-frame event, not from the view.

go dispatches :set-page and then runs the scroll and focus side effect directly in the view. The path instructions require views to dispatch event vectors, and effects to be coordinated by registered handlers. Consider an FX handler such as :set-page-and-focus that sets :page and triggers the scroll and focus after render.

As per path instructions: "Keep state transitions in registered re-frame event handlers; use DB handlers for state-only changes and FX handlers when coordinating effects."

- Around line 2072-2077: Update the bottom-navigation handler that calls
show-page-top! to dispatch the :set-page update synchronously before registering
the callback. Change show-page-top! to use r/after-render instead of
requestAnimationFrame so it measures and focuses the updated page; preserve
asynchronous dispatch for non-bottom navigation.
