Problem
Renovate stopped proposing updates for our devbox dependencies. By default Renovate resolves the
devboxdatasource againstsearch.devbox.sh, whose package index stopped being updated around 2026-08-27. As a result devbox packages (e.g. CLIs pinned indevbox.json) appear up-to-date to Renovate even when newer versions exist, so no bump PRs are created and the Dependency Dashboard no longer lists devbox updates.Upstream issue: jetify-com/devbox#2965
Solution
Add a
packageRulesentry that points thedevboxdatasource at the currentnixsearch.combackend:{ "description": "Use new devbox registry, see also https://github.com/jetify-com/devbox/issues/2965", "matchDatasources": ["devbox"], "registryUrls": ["https://www.nixsearch.com/v2/"] }This restores devbox dependency bumps via Renovate.
Verification
After a new Renovate run, the Dependency Dashboard again detects the devbox dependency and lists a pending devbox update.
Renovate then successfully opened a PR bumping the devbox dependency.
