Changes

  • README: "SaaS API" becomes "CacheKit Cloud API" in the stack diagram, the spec table, the overview and the footer; the spec/saas-api.md filename stays as a link target.
  • conformance/README.md: the server binding is described as CacheKit Cloud.

spec/, sdk-feature-matrix.md, decisions/ and changelog.d/ are unchanged.

Adds a no-retired-names pre-commit hook next to no-internal-references, with the same files: scope plus llms.txt. It rejects retired names for the hosted service (it is "CacheKit Cloud" in prose; CachekitIO stays a code identifier), the retired tagline, "no backend required", and wrong package targets (cargo add cachekit, npm install cachekit, pip install cachekit-py).

Closes LAB-12494

Adds a no-retired-names pre-commit hook that rejects retired product names and wrong package names in READMEs, docs and llms.txt.

Review comments at @.pre-commit-config.yaml:
- Line 23: Update the install-command alternatives in the entry pattern so npm
and pip options may appear between the install command and the package target,
allowing commands such as npm install --save cachekit and pip install --upgrade
cachekit-py to match. Preserve the existing supported package names and
package-boundary checks.
- Line 23: Update the pre-commit regex in the hook’s `entry` to detect
standalone `CachekitIO` used in prose, including headings, while preserving
occurrences used as code identifiers. Constrain the new match to prose contexts
and exclude code contexts without weakening the existing naming checks.
- Line 23: Update the pygrep hook configuration for the `entry` pattern to
enable multiline matching, and change the `no backend required` and
`Production-ready Redis caching` alternatives to allow whitespace between words,
including line breaks. Preserve the other phrase checks unchanged.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated product references across the README and conformance documentation to use “CacheKit Cloud” and “CacheKit Cloud API” consistently.
    • Names are now consistent across protocol information, specifications, the SDK quick start, compliance criteria, and related links. API endpoints and protocol descriptions remain unchanged.

Walkthrough

The README and conformance documentation now use CacheKit Cloud terminology. A pre-commit hook checks selected text files for specified retired names, wording, and install commands.

  • Ticket / Acceptance Criteria: `Refs: ABC-123` (Linear/Jira/Asana/ClickUp/Trello) or a direct ticket link.
  • Bugfix Validation: a Sentry/Datadog/Bugsnag event link (or paste the stack trace/error message).
  • Endpoint Risk: mention the route (e.g., `POST /api/payments`) or controller/action name.
  • Attach a repo file as context: use an explicit marker like `@file:docs/guide.mdx#L10-L50` (replace with your real path).
  • API Contract Docs: include `@file:openapi.yaml` or `@file:swagger.json` when changing routes/schemas.
  • Definition of Done / Standards: include `@file:DOD.md` or `@file:CONTRIBUTING.md` if your repo has them.
  • Design System Source of Truth: include `@file:ui/index.ts` (replace with your DS entrypoint path).
  • Feature Flags: include the flag key/name and `@file:flags.ts` / `@file:config.json` (and optionally the PostHog flag name).
  • Edge/CDN Rules: link the Cloudflare rule/zone or describe the intended redirect/header behavior.
  • Attach an MCP tool output: use `@mcp<provider|tool>` (replace with an installed MCP provider + tool, e.g., `@mcp<sentry|events.search>`).
