Changes

Prose outside the README and docs/ names the hosted service CacheKit Cloud; CachekitIO stays a code identifier.

  • SECURITY.md: the architecture diagram, the log-redaction and transport-log scope notes, the lock-token note and the key path-encoding notes say "CacheKit Cloud" instead of "CachekitIO", "the SaaS" or "the CacheKit SaaS backend".
  • src/cachekit/__init__.py module docstring (shown by help(cachekit)): the backend list, the @cache.io() comment and the api_key note say "CacheKit Cloud".
  • BaseBackend.delete docstring: "CacheKit Cloud returns", matching its excerpt in docs/backends/README.md.
  • The HTTP 413 error now reads Value too large for CacheKit Cloud (HTTP 413): value exceeds the server's maximum cache value size, and docs/error-codes.md quotes it verbatim.

No behaviour change beyond the 413 message text; the existing 413 tests assert only "too large".

Closes LAB-12498

Explain Change →

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated CacheKit Cloud terminology across the documentation, including key-encoding guidance and backend examples.
    • Clarified that Cloud prefers lock tokens in request headers while continuing to accept the legacy query parameter during migration.
    • Clarified that successful delete requests return True, whether or not the key existed.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Updated the HTTP 413 message to clearly state that the value exceeds the server’s maximum cache value size.

Walkthrough

This change updates CacheKit Cloud terminology across package and security documentation, backend return-value documentation, and the HTTP 413 error message. It also updates the documented 413 message to identify the server’s maximum cache value size. The lock-token and key-encoding descriptions remain unchanged.

Changes

Layer / File(s) Summary
CacheKit Cloud terminology and API documentation
src/cachekit/__init__.py, SECURITY.md, src/cachekit/backends/base.py

HTTP 413 error wording
src/cachekit/backends/cachekitio/error_handler.py, docs/error-codes.md
The permanent HTTP 413 message names CacheKit Cloud. The documented message identifies the server’s maximum cache value size as the limit.

Add these hints in your PR description (or a comment) to unlock deeper checks:

  • Ticket / Acceptance Criteria: `Refs: ABC-123` (Linear/Jira/Asana/ClickUp/Trello) or a direct ticket link.
  • Bugfix Validation: a Sentry/Datadog/Bugsnag event link (or paste the stack trace/error message).
  • Endpoint Risk: mention the route (e.g., `POST /api/payments`) or controller/action name.
  • Attach a repo file as context: use an explicit marker like `@file:docs/guide.mdx#L10-L50` (replace with your real path).
  • API Contract Docs: include `@file:openapi.yaml` or `@file:swagger.json` when changing routes/schemas.
  • Definition of Done / Standards: include `@file:DOD.md` or `@file:CONTRIBUTING.md` if your repo has them.
  • Design System Source of Truth: include `@file:ui/index.ts` (replace with your DS entrypoint path).
  • Feature Flags: include the flag key/name and `@file:flags.ts` / `@file:config.json` (and optionally the PostHog flag name).
  • Edge/CDN Rules: link the Cloudflare rule/zone or describe the intended redirect/header behavior.
  • Attach an MCP tool output: use `@mcp<provider|tool>` (replace with an installed MCP provider + tool, e.g., `@mcp<sentry|events.search>`).
