The v1.33.0 release run (41062193181) failed Connect image / Verify Published Images on CVE-2026-75595 (netty-handler, CRITICAL, fixed in 4.1.137):

Path netty-handler
plugins/aiven-s3-sink, aiven-s3-source (Aiven S3 3.4.3) 4.1.115
plugins/apicurio-converter (Apicurio 3.3.0) 4.1.130
/opt/cruise-control (Strimzi base) 4.1.118
  • Every netty 4.1.x jar in the three plugin directories moves to 4.1.139, so the modules stay in step.
  • /opt/cruise-control is removed, like /opt/kafka-exporter: Strimzi runs Cruise Control from its own image, never this one.

Verified locally: Trivy 0.67.2 with the gate's flags (--severity CRITICAL --ignore-unfixed) finds 0, with and without .trivyignore.yaml; connect-plugin-path.sh list reports all 9 plugins in those directories loadable.

The kates JVM image fails on the same CVE through Quarkus 3.20.6; that is the Quarkus upgrade (#284), in its own PR.

The v1.33.0 release gate failed the Connect image on CVE-2026-75595
(netty-handler, CRITICAL, fixed in 4.1.137) in four places: Aiven S3 sink
and source 3.4.3 (4.1.115), the Apicurio converter 3.3.0 (4.1.130) and
Strimzi's /opt/cruise-control (4.1.118).

Every netty 4.1.x jar in the three plugin directories moves to 4.1.139, so
the modules stay in step, and /opt/cruise-control is removed: the operator
runs Cruise Control from Strimzi's own image and a Connect worker never
starts it, as with the Kafka Exporter.

Trivy 0.67.2 with the gate's flags (CRITICAL, ignore-unfixed) finds nothing,
with or without .trivyignore.yaml, and connect-plugin-path lists all nine
plugins of those directories as loadable.
