feat(core): add client-side APIs for authentication - #300
This pull request adds client-side APIs for email verification, password management, email changes, and magic-link authentication. These methods let applications call the corresponding authentication endpoints through createAuthClient() and choose automatic browser navigation or handle redirect results themselves.
Key Changes
Add ten client methods to createAuthClient() for sending and verifying email and magic links, password reset and change flows, and email change and cancellation.
Add client option and return types. With redirect: false, methods return a typed result; otherwise, they return void and navigate to the response URL in the browser when one is provided.
Add runtime and type tests for the new methods, including request data, CSRF headers where applicable, redirect handling, and failure responses.
Usage
constauthClient=createAuthClient({/* client options */})constresult=awaitauthClient.sendMagicLink("user@example.com",{redirect: false,})if(result.success&&result.redirectURL){// Handle the redirect manually.}
The pull request adds ten email-verification, password, email-change, and magic-link methods to createAuthClient(). It adds option and return types, request handling, redirect behavior, and tests for method behavior and type signatures.

Client API contracts and exposure packages/core/src/@types/api.ts, packages/core/src/client/client.ts, packages/core/test/client/client.test-d.ts, packages/core/CHANGELOG.md
Adds option and return types for ten client methods, including conditional return types for redirect handling. Exposes the methods on the returned client object and adds type assertions.
Email verification and password methods packages/core/src/client/client.ts, packages/core/test/client/client.test.ts
Adds client requests for email verification, password recovery, password reset, and password change. Tests cover request data, redirect parameters, CSRF headers where applicable, and success and failure responses.
Adds client requests to change an email, verify an email change, and cancel an email change. Tests cover tokens, redirect parameters, CSRF headers, and response results.
The new authentication client is not ready to merge: six operations fail with default configuration, and redirect handling and failure reporting also need correction.

A rabbit checks the inbox light, Then sends a link into the night. New passwords hop along the way, Email changes join the play. Ten small calls return, then spring— The rabbit thumps to celebrate!
If a return alias becomes never, these assertions can still pass. Assert the concrete success and failure union for each method. Include calls that infer the options type.

Update the sendVerificationEmail type assertions to check the concrete success
and failure result shapes independently of SendVerificationEmailReturn, so a
never alias cannot make the tests pass vacuously. Add assertions for calls where
the options type is inferred, and apply the same independent shape checks to
each related method in this test.
The new tests check redirectTo forwarding but do not enable automatic navigation. Add runtime tests for each method with redirect: true. Assert that window.location.assign receives the response’s redirectURL. The current tests would not detect removal of the new navigation calls.

- Around line 401-403: Update SendVerificationEmailReturn and the corresponding
new result aliases so callers receive a data-or-void union whenever the redirect
option can be false, including when redirect is widened to boolean or is
optional. Preserve the existing void result when false is not possible.
Review comments at @packages/core/src/client/client.ts:
- Line 853: Update cancelEmailChange so it fetches and sends the CSRF token only
when no cancellation token is provided; when a valid cancellation token is
supplied, skip getCSRFToken and proceed with cancellation even if the CSRF
endpoint is unavailable.
- Around line 550-551: Update the redirect condition in the ten client methods
around the `options?.redirect` check so an omitted `redirect` defaults to true,
while `redirect: false` still supports manual navigation. Update their
TypeScript return types to expose the action result instead of hiding it as
`void`.
- Around line 672-677: Update the POST request options in sendVerificationEmail,
forgotPassword, resetPassword, changePassword, changeEmail, and sendMagicLink to
explicitly set the JSON content type while preserving any existing CSRF headers.
Update the corresponding mocked POST expectations to verify the content type and
retain their existing assertions.
- Around line 679-683: Normalize non-OK HTTP responses across all ten affected
client methods so callers receive a consistent failure result with success
false, redirect false, and a null redirectURL; preserve JSON parsing for
successful responses. Add a shared response helper and use it at each affected
response return site, including the ResetPassword flow near its redirect
handling.
