Restore object inputs by reference, existing input errors, and cancellation precedence. Keep the optional-input default and legacy JSON-string support. Update the harness and docs to distinguish polyfill behavior from native Chrome 155.
Validation: 299 tests pass; lint, type checks, builds, and native/polyfill browser smoke tests pass.
