Add queries that are expected to fail to the MySQL parser corpus - #618
This PR adds the queries that MySQL tests expect to fail to the mysql-parser query corpus, and fixes four extractor bugs that lost queries. The corpus test now checks both directions: the parser must reject a query marked as a syntax error, and accept any other row.

Queries that are expected to fail
The extractor now keeps the queries after --error and error X;. Most of them parse, because errors like a missing table come after parsing. A third CSV column holds syntax_error for the queries that the parser should reject:
Marked by their tests: Every occurrence of the query allows only a syntax error (ER_PARSE_ERROR or 1064).
Marked by name: The extractor lists 18 queries whose tests don't show their syntax error, because MySQL reports a semantic error first or the test also allows another error.
These queries stay regular rows, without the marker:
ER_SYNTAX_ERROR (1149): MySQL raises this from semantic checks on queries that parse.
PREPARE with text or a variable: The error is in the text, which isn't in the corpus.
Three test files: In ctype_latin1.test, debug_sync.test, and trigger-compat-debug.test, the error doesn't come from the query's syntax.
--error lists with 0 or S00000: The query may succeed.
The benchmark skips marked rows, because it measures queries that should parse.
Extractor fixes
Four older bugs in the extractor lost 837 rows:
--delimiter | (481 rows): The extractor read the next statement as part of the delimiter and lost the rest of the file.
Indented commands and comments (347 rows): An indented --echo or # comment took in the next statement, and both were dropped.
A delimiter that starts with a quote (6 rows): The extractor never found 'abcd' in multi_statement.test, so it lost the rest of that file.
--query lines (3 rows): The extractor skipped these like any other -- command. Two of them expect a syntax error and have an unterminated quote, which no other marked row has.
Remaining failures
tests/data/corpus-failures.csv pins the 145 rows that fail the test:
46 regular rows that the parser rejects: These have several statements in one string, which MySQL also rejects without its multi-statement client flag. Parsing them needs a new parser API.
97 marked rows that the parser accepts: MySQL rejects these with checks that run while parsing, like the one for COMMIT AND CHAIN RELEASE. Rejecting them here would need a separate pass over the AST.
2 marked rows that the parser accepts:select ? and select ? from t1 use ?, which MySQL allows only when preparing.
Every row was also compared with MySQL 8.4.10, using mysqli::prepare so that nothing runs. The only other differences are 28 SHOW PARSE_TREE rows that only debug builds accept, and the 15 marked rows where MySQL reports a semantic error first.
Expanded MySQL parser coverage for query delimiters, indented test commands, and comments.
Updated corpus checks to account for expected syntax errors and SQL-mode differences. Benchmark runs now exclude queries marked as expected syntax errors.
Documentation
Updated the documented MySQL query corpus size to approximately 78,000 queries and clarified how syntax-error cases are represented.
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
The corpus generator now records queries expected to fail with syntax errors in a third CSV field. Parser tests validate the markers and updated corpus totals. Benchmark loading skips marked rows, and the README documents the corpus size and marker field.

WordPress/sqlite-database-integration#613: Adds SQL-mode tracking and expected-error command handling. This PR uses SQL-mode observations to record syntax-error markers.
Merge Risk: Low · up to 1f60a
The corpus generator has two edge cases in which a multiline query containing an --error or other -- line could be mislabeled, truncated or merged. No affected row is established in the pinned corpus, so the risk is small and can be fixed in a follow-up.

The extractor skipped every query that a MySQL test expects to fail, but most
of them parse, because errors like a missing table come after parsing. The
corpus grows from 69,370 to 77,319 rows.
A query that the tests only ever expect to fail with a syntax error (1064) has
"syntax_error" in a third column. The parser should reject these rows, and any
other row should parse. A failure is now a row where it does the opposite.
ER_SYNTAX_ERROR (1149) isn't marked, because it comes from semantic checks on
queries that parse.
The pinned failures grow from 43 to 226:
- 14 regular rows have a syntax error that MySQL doesn't reach, because a
semantic check during parsing reports another error first.
- 169 marked rows are accepted by the parser. MySQL 8.4.10 rejects 90 of them
with checks in grammar actions and parse tree classes, which this parser
doesn't have, and parses the other 79 when they're prepared.
The benchmark skips marked rows, because the parser stops early on them.
The syntax_error marker covered any query whose test allowed a syntax error,
which also labeled queries that MySQL's parser accepts. These rows are now
regular rows:
- Queries whose test also allows another result, such as "--error 0,ER_PARSE_ERROR".
- PREPARE statements, where the error is in the text of the statement.
- Queries in ctype_latin1.test, debug_sync.test, and trigger-compat-debug.test,
where the error doesn't come from the syntax of the query.
A query whose "--error" list allows success now counts as one that ran, so a
SET statement updates the tracked SQL modes and client character set. No such
statement changes a row in these tests.
80 rows lose the marker, and no rows are added or removed. The pinned failures
go from 226 to 148. One new failure, "decimal(64, 999...)", is a syntax error on
MySQL too, but its test also allows another error.
MySQL rejects 15 regular rows with a syntax error that their tests don't show. For 14 rows, the test expects a semantic error that MySQL reports first. The other row's test also allows another error. The test files can't tell these apart from other failing queries, so the extractor lists them.
The parser already rejects all of them, so the pinned failures go from 148 to 133. With the semantic cause removed, MySQL 8.4.10 reports 1064 for each of the 14 rows. With the syntax fixed too, both MySQL and the parser accept them.
MySQL 8.4.10 rejects these rows with 1064, from a check in a parse tree class (PT_part_value_item_max). Their test also allows ER_MAXVALUE_IN_VALUES_IN, so they were regular rows, and they passed because the parser accepts them.
Marking them shows the difference, so the pinned failures go from 133 to 135.
A "--delimiter |" line has no terminator, because a "--" command ends with its line. The extractor read it like "delimiter |;", so it kept appending lines until the next ";" and used all of that text as the delimiter. Nothing matched it after that, and the rest of the test file was lost.
This affected 7 test files in the corpus, such as create.test and sp-error.test. The corpus grows from 77,319 to 77,800 rows, and 16 of the new rows are marked as syntax errors. MySQL 8.4.10 agrees with the markers on all 481 rows.
The pinned failures go from 135 to 142. The parser accepts 7 of the marked rows, where MySQL rejects large KEY_BLOCK_SIZE and AVG_ROW_LENGTH values in grammar actions.
mysqltest skips the whitespace before a command or a comment, but the extractor only recognized them at the start of a line. An indented "--echo" or "# comment" started a query, which then took in the next statement. Since that text starts with "--" or "#", it was dropped as a command, and the statement was lost.
The corpus grows from 77,800 to 78,147 rows. MySQL 8.4.10 agrees with the parser on all of them except one, which joins the list of hidden syntax errors. In "ALTER TEMPORARY TABLE" inside a function, a grammar action reports ER_SP_BADSTATEMENT first. Outside the function, MySQL reports 1064, and without TEMPORARY, both MySQL and the parser accept the syntax.
multi_statement.test sets the delimiter to 'abcd', with the quotes. The extractor handled the opening quote before it looked for the delimiter, so it never found it, and the rest of the file was lost. As in mysqltest, it now looks for the delimiter first.
The corpus grows from 78,147 to 78,153 rows. The pinned failures go from 142 to 144, because 2 of the new rows have several statements in one string, which MySQL 8.4.10 also rejects without its multi-statement client flag.
A "--query" line sends the rest of the line as a query, but the extractor skipped it like any other "--" command. parser.test and ctype_errors.test use this command for queries with an unterminated quote, because mysqltest would keep reading past the end of a normal statement. Both expect ER_PARSE_ERROR, and no other marked row has an unterminated quote.
The corpus grows from 78,153 to 78,156 rows. The pinned failures go from 144 to 145, because the third new row, from user_password_history.test, has several statements in one string. MySQL 8.4.10 rejects all 3 rows with 1064 when they're prepared.
