An unofficial, community-maintained Homebrew tap for
Chronoctl, Chronosphere's CLI.
The formula builds the tagged Apache-2.0 source published in
chronosphereio/chronoctl-core.
Install the newest stable upstream tag:
brew install VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctlHomebrew automatically taps a fully qualified formula. With Homebrew 6 or newer, this trusts only this formula rather than every package that may later be added to the tap.
Verify the installation:
chronoctl versionThe tap retains the four releases immediately preceding the current release:
brew install VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl@1.32.0Versioned formulae are keg-only because they all provide a binary named
chronoctl. Run one directly with:
"$(brew --prefix VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl@1.32.0)/bin/chronoctl" versionOr put that version's bin directory at the front of PATH. List the currently
available rollback versions with:
brew search '/chronoctl(@|$)/'Then follow Chronosphere's authentication documentation. Do not put API tokens in this repository or in formula arguments.
Chronosphere currently supports Chronoctl versions for one year after release. To check whether the formula is behind the newest upstream tag:
brew livecheck --formula VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctlThe scheduled Update Chronoctl workflow checks the upstream repository daily
at 14:17 UTC. When a newer stable vX.Y.Z tag appears, it prepares an update on
a temporary branch, then runs the tap's style, audit, build, and CLI tests on
macOS and Linux, including the rollback formula tests. Only after all checks
pass does it automatically publish that exact commit to main, making the new
version the default for brew install and brew upgrade. Pre-release tags are
ignored. No extra token or manual PR merge is required.
Failed checks leave the current default unchanged and the candidate branch
available for inspection. If main changes during validation, publication fails
instead of overwriting those changes; the next daily run prepares a fresh update.
You can also run Update Chronoctl manually from GitHub Actions. Runs on branches
other than main validate updates but cannot publish them.
To prepare an update locally or select an explicit newer tag:
ruby script/update.rb
ruby script/update.rb 1.34.0An install never downloads from a mutable latest URL: every formula uses an
immutable Git tag and verified SHA-256 checksum. brew update must fetch the
merged formula update before brew upgrade chronoctl can install a new release.
brew tap VapiAI/chronoctl "$(pwd)"
brew trust --formula VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl
brew style --formula VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl@1.32.0
brew audit --strict --new --online VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl
brew audit --strict --online VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl@1.32.0
brew install --build-from-source VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctl
brew test VapiAI/chronoctl/chronoctlThe CI workflow runs style, audit, build, and test on macOS and Linux. The formula uses upstream source instead of mirroring or modifying Chronosphere binaries.
