[Tool submission] LeanFPS — MIT-open-source Windows game utility (Rust / egui) #70
LeanFPS — an MIT-open-source Radiant Optimizer alternative for Windows 10/11 x64. This is a maker submission for the OS & Hardware Utilities category, alongside other native system tools.
License: MIT (complete source is public, inspectable, modifiable and buildable).
Implementation: Rust + egui/eframe; desktop GUI, not a CLI or AI service.
What it does
One approximately 6.5 MB portable executable; no installer, .NET, WebView or account is required. It detects games, records average FPS and 1% lows using Windows ETW, and stores each setting's actual previous value for per-tweak Undo and crash recovery. Session-only changes restore on exit; persistent settings require Undo. It keeps Defender, HVCI, the firewall, Windows Update and CPU mitigations enabled. It does not modify game files or inject into game memory.
Free tier and optional paid features
The permanent free core provides five tweaks, game detection and FPS recording. There is also a three-game Pro trial and optional US$19 one-time early-bird Pro purchase. Please describe the free core and paid Pro separately.
Current release: 0.1.147. The Windows binary is currently unsigned; the website supplies SHA256 checksums. Results vary by hardware and game; this submission makes no fixed FPS gain or independent comparative benchmark claim.
Contributing guide and Code of Conduct reviewed. Repository Issue/PR search and the public directory search both returned zero LeanFPS matches.
Thank you for submitting LeanFPS to DevShelf! The project looks great — lightweight native Rust + egui architecture, MIT open source, and safe non-destructive recovery mechanisms.
