OpenAI Codex (GPT-6) implemented and self-reviewed this change. Owner review and explicit approval are pending; no owner approval is inferred from the shared GitHub identity.

What changed

Cloud Scheduler can deliver a renewal more than once. Claim the daily UTC cycle with a generation-matched GCS write before loading login credentials, and never replay an unresolved attempt. MFA/new-device verification, authentication failure, and unknown outcomes stop for owner recovery, including on later days. The renewal path never reads or submits MFA seed/code/PIN/OTP configuration.

Send bounded failure notifications through the existing injected Telegram configuration and add a broker-free /session-renew-deadline endpoint that checks whether the current cycle completed by 21:15 UTC. Persist notification attempts separately from transport acknowledgements. Document the owner-controlled recovery procedure, zero-retry watchdog Scheduler setup and independent watchdog/notification delivery-failure alert policy.

Activation requires a separately approved deployment and watchdog configuration. Independent Monitoring delivery still requires a verified channel. No runtime resource bindings or channel IDs are included in this public PR. No deploy, IAM/secret changes, real notification, login, renewal or trading has been performed. Do not enable auto-merge: owner approval is required before squash merge.

How verified

  • Final-head CI (6103023): 1,602 tests and 13 subtests passed; lint, sdist/wheel build, documentation, Gitleaks, commit convention and all required governance checks passed.
  • CodeRabbit independently reviewed the implementation and identified one minor classification defect: missing login fields were reported as an unknown authentication outcome. The correction catches only FirstradeCredentialsError before client construction and preserves the manual-recovery block. Six targeted offline tests covering that correction and the MFA boundary passed. The review thread is resolved. The final head was not independently re-reviewed; CodeRabbit is skipped for that head.
  • Additional focused offline coverage includes concurrent duplicate delivery, crash/unknown outcomes, future-day blocking, the exact deadline cutoff, notification deduplication/acknowledgement and three cache-prefix default cases. The installed SDK was exercised only with mocked HTTP for MFA and new-device challenges.
  • Local sdist and wheel built successfully using the declared isolated backend. The first no-isolation build lacked setuptools; the normal isolated build passed. Local Ruff and diff checks passed; documentation had zero blocking findings and one existing README outline advisory.
  • Shared dependency revisions match the lockfile. The local full-suite attempts were interrupted after host configuration discovery and slow sandboxed subprocess tests; they are not claimed as full passes. Complete-suite results above are from GitHub CI. Subsequent targeted local tests used an environment-only provider, an unavailable test ADC path and OS-level network denial.

Live alert receipt and natural-cycle acceptance remain unverified and require separate rollout/test authorization. The existing cache deployment remains owned by its current deployment task; this change has not been deployed concurrently. Owner approval and squash merge remain pending; passing low-risk governance checks does not substitute for the requested owner sign-off.

Walkthrough

The renewal endpoint now uses a GCS-backed daily attempt guard and excludes MFA material from unattended renewal. A separate endpoint checks whether renewal completed by 21:15 UTC. Tests cover attempt handling, failure states, alerts, routes, and credential boundaries.

Changes: Daily session renewal

Layer / File(s) Summary
Credential-safe renewal
application/firstrade_client.py, application/session_check_service.py, tests/test_forced_session_renewal.py
Credential loading can omit MFA values. Forced renewal clears MFA and debug fields and classifies login, account-read, and cache-write failures. Tests check credential exclusion and stop behavior for authentication challenges.
Renewal state and alert receipts
application/session_renewal_guard.py, tests/test_session_renewal_guard.py
RenewalStore uses generation-pinned GCS reads and writes for renewal state and alert receipts. Alert delivery records acknowledged or unconfirmed outcomes when possible. Tests cover storage conflicts and alert behavior.
Daily cycle and deadline checks
application/session_renewal_guard.py, tests/test_session_renewal_guard.py
Guarded renewal validates scheduled cycles, permits at most one attempt per cycle, and records outcomes. The deadline check reports matching-cycle completion by 21:15 UTC without invoking renewal. Tests cover duplicate and concurrent deliveries, failures, and cutoff cases.
HTTP routes and rollout documentation
main.py, README.md, docs/session-renewal.md, tests/test_forced_session_renewal.py
The renewal route delegates to the guard, and a separate route delegates to the deadline check. The README and guide describe scheduling, recovery, notification, and rollout requirements. Route tests cover the delegated behavior.

A missing credential can produce a misleading renewal alert. Correct the diagnosis before merge if practical; owner recovery remains required either way.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "feat: guard daily renewal and alert on missed deadlines" matches the main change. The changeset adds a generation-pinned GCS guard around daily session renewal (one claimed attempt per UTC cycle, no replay after unknown outcomes or MFA/auth failures). It also adds a broker-free /session-renew-deadline endpoint that checks completion by 21:15 UTC and sends Telegram alerts on failures. The title names both parts without file lists, emojis, or vague terms.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 14.29% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 35 functions across 6 files. (2 skipped: 2 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

@coderabbitai review

Please review the current PR head for concurrent renewal admission, persistent no-retry behavior after MFA/new-device challenges or unknown outcomes, the 21:15 UTC deadline check, and notification acknowledgement/deduplication. Cloud changes and real authentication are excluded; the owner will approve code before squash merge and approve any deployment separately.

@coderabbitai review

The final implementation head is f4e99e2. Since the initial review request, only the route-contract inventory and the empty-prefix fallback (matching the existing session cache default, with three tests) changed. Please include those changes in the review. No deployment or authentication has been triggered.
