WalkthroughThis PR updates card and PIN handling across the signing API and page, adds platform-specific download links backed by stable release artifacts, and revises CIE ID setup guidance. The release workflow now fails if either required macOS or Windows artifact is missing. ChangesSigning and release flow

…ames The dashboard downloads releases/latest/download/PoliNetwork-eSign-macos.dmg and PoliNetwork-eSign-windows-amd64.zip, so its button gets the right installer at once instead of opening a release page with a dozen files. The macOS .zip follows the same pattern. The versioned names go away rather than doubling every download on the release page: the version stays in the tag, the app and its pages. The release fails when either linked file is missing. releases/latest is the newest release that is not a pre-release, so release candidates never reach these links. Until the first release with these names, the links answer 404.
The installed app is "CIE ID" on every system; only its Mac App Store listing says "Software CIE", so Spotlight and Launchpad never found the name the README and the doctor used. Errors, the status pages, the doctor (which now labels each provider) and the README say CIE ID and mention the store listing once. On macOS the README makes pairing the card in CIE ID the setup check: opening the app installs Rosetta, and a card that pairs there signs here too. The doctor suggests pairing when it finds no paired card.
"PoliNetwork eSign 0.4.0" under the panel answers support's first question from a screenshot, on the signing window too. The agent renders it into the page, so it shows before any script or status call, and the home page no longer fills it from the status. Release tags lose their "v".
The signing page posts {status: "ready", detail: <version>} as soon as it
runs, before any request, so the dashboard can close a window that stays
silent (the agent is not running) within seconds instead of waiting for the
job to be seen. Every error that ends the window (no valid link, jobs that
could not be loaded or expired, a card that cannot be used) now also carries
the text the window shows and fatal: true, so the dashboard can explain it in
place of "isn't answering". Other messages keep their meaning.
The first message leaves before the page has asked the agent anything, so the
agent puts the dashboard origin in the page only after checking it against
its allowlist, and the origin stays in the address for reloads. Other sites
that open the page learn nothing from it.
…o old When the backend answers agent_outdated on loading the jobs, the window shows "Update PoliNetwork eSign" in place of the PIN form, with the download for this system: the macOS .dmg or the Windows .zip under their fixed release names, which download in the window itself, or the release page on Linux. It tells the dashboard the same way as other errors that end the window, so the dashboard can show the update too. A refusal at prepare, which the backend keeps as a safety net, leads to the same screen when nothing was signed.
The signing window asked for the PIN whatever the reader said, so a PIN typed before placing the CIE failed with "No card on the reader" and had to be typed again. The status now says whether a PIN could reach a card: "present", "absent" when no provider would be tried (no reader, no card, no CIE software: the signature would fail before the PIN is sent) or "unknown" when a provider that cannot tell would be tried. The page highlights "Place your CIE on the reader" and keeps the PIN field and Sign disabled while the card is absent, again when it is taken away, keeping the digits typed so far. "Unknown" never holds the PIN back. Two answers in a row without the card are needed to hold it back again, so a card moving on the reader does not lock the field. When the card is found the focus goes to the PIN, or to Sign when the PIN is remembered.
CIE ID's middleware never says how many PIN attempts are left, and the
window forgot every wrong PIN when it closed, so the attempt that blocks
the CIE looked like any other.
The agent now counts the wrong PINs typed in a row for each signer the
dashboard names, in memory, and prefers the attempts left that the card
reports when it reports them. /api/job and a wrong PIN's error carry
them as attempts {left, card}. A blocked card, or a signature the
backend accepts from the signer's card, clears the count; a card the
backend refuses for that signer does not.
The page says what went wrong under the PIN field. Before the last
attempt, also in a window opened again, an amber block above the field
warns that one more wrong PIN blocks the CIE, and "Remember the PIN" is
not offered. The hint and the blocked-PIN message no longer say where
the PIN and PUK digits come from: people who changed their PIN would be
misled.
The PIN field was always masked, so a signer could not check the eight digits before the attempt that blocks the CIE. An eye at the end of the field shows them and masks them again (a toggle button, aria-pressed). A click on it leaves the focus in the field.
Signing several documents of the same signer sent one key per document to the wrong-PIN count, so a single wrong PIN in a batch of two or more used up two attempts or more: the window warned "Last attempt" and hid Remember while the card still had two.
The count was cleared only after the backend accepted a whole signature. After two wrong PINs, a right PIN followed by a card that slips off the reader, or by any later failure, kept the window warning "Last attempt" and hiding Remember, though the card had all its attempts back. The count now clears at the first prepare the backend accepts, which still keeps it for a card that belongs to someone else (signer_mismatch). /api/sign also returns the attempts as they are after the PIN, so the page stops warning when it shows the form again after a partly failed batch.
- Sign pressed in the moment between the card leaving and a second status answer confirming it sent the PIN for nothing: the agent reported no_card on the job and the page wiped the digits. After an answer without the card, the page now asks the agent again before sending the PIN, and goes back to waiting for the card with the digits kept when it is gone. - A signature that stops before the PIN reaches a card (no card, no reader, busy) keeps the typed digits. When the card block already says the card is missing, no red error repeats it, and such an error goes away once the card is detected. - A status that keeps failing for any reason, not only an agent that stopped answering, counts as unknown after three tries, so the PIN is never held back for good. - "CIE ID is not set up" now shows: unavailable software lists no readers, so the page said "Connect the NFC card reader" instead. - A long reader name stays on one line, with the full name on hover, so the card block keeps its height and the form below does not move.
The update screen said "Download the new one and open it: it replaces this one." on every system, but on Linux the button opens the release page and the agent is updated through its package. The sentence now comes with the download link, for the system the agent runs on.
- Batch rows read "Requested by Anna Bianchi · Segretario", which made the signer's role look like the requester's. Each row is now the title and one line with the role and where to sign. - The File row is hidden when the file is just the title plus .pdf. - Typing 4 digits now says "Type all 8 digits of your CIE PIN.", one line instead of two, so Sign does not jump. The claim about what other CIE apps ask for is gone with it.
The third row of the home page read just "CIE ID", without the label the reader row has. It now reads "Signing software: CIE ID" (or OpenCIE, "PoliNetwork eSign (built in)", the development key).
At the dashboard's popup size (460×680), the last-attempt warning pushed Sign below the fold in a batch of three documents, and at 480×640 even a plain batch did. The PIN form now fits the window: the list of documents gives up height first, down to a row and the top of the next, and the version line under the panel goes below the fold instead. Only a window too small for the form itself scrolls the form.
White on the dark scheme's light blue accent (#619cf1) is 2.79:1, and 1.87:1 on hover. Primary buttons (Sign, Try again, the download on the update screen) now use the darkest neutral on it, as the dashboard does: 6.96:1, and 10.4:1 on hover.
… window Once every document was signed, the window said "You can close this window." and showed Close, and about a second later the dashboard closed it by itself. With a dashboard behind it the window now reads just "Signed as …": the dashboard closes it, or the window closes itself after 4 s. The sentence and Close appear at once only in a window without an opener, and otherwise only if the browser keeps the window open after that attempt.
Someone signing their own request read their name twice, in "Requested by" and right below in "Signing as". The row is now hidden when the requester is the signer, as the File row is when it repeats the title.
The signing page posts nothing to a dashboard outside the allowed origins, not even "ready", so other sites can't learn that the agent runs. Such a dashboard (a staging copy, a new domain) therefore says that PoliNetwork eSign isn't running. The README now says so, and Troubleshooting points from that message and the "refused dashboard origin" log line to allowedOrigins.
A signing window whose agent stopped answering before the job loaded read "PoliNetwork eSign stopped answering. Start it again, then press Sign." and then "Close this window and start again from the dashboard.", on a page with no Sign button. It now reads "PoliNetwork eSign stopped" and "Start it again from the dashboard.", the dashboard's own title and its Start button. A signature that loses the agent still goes back to the PIN form with the old sentence, since Sign is there.

Second stacked PR, on top of #13. It builds the agent side of the decisions taken on the signing UX brief.
{type: "pn-esign", status: "ready", detail: <version>}as soon as it loads. Errors it can't recover from post{status: "error", detail, message, fatal: true}. Messages go only to the dashboard origin. A dashboard that isn't allowed gets nothing, so it reads the agent as not running; the README covers this./api/statusreportscard: present | absent | unknown.PoliNetwork-eSign-macos.dmgandPoliNetwork-eSign-windows-amd64.zip, so the dashboard can linkreleases/latest/download/…. The release workflow checks the names.gofmt,go vet,go test ./...andgo test -race ./...pass. I ran it end to end with the dashboard and backend PRs on a simulated card. A real CIE card hasn't been tried yet. After merging, tag a release
vX.Y.Z(not a pre-release) so the dashboard's download links stop returning 404. Merge order: #13 first, then rebase this ontomain(git rebase --onto main fix/sign-page-ux).
