This PR includes a breaking change to the GPU Object
Launchable is being removed, as this serve no purpose and can be implemented client side
nvidia_minor from GetDevice has been replaced with an hashmap called additional_properties, which include a nvidia_minor key.
This change makes the Gpu struct cleaner and allow adding more properties in the future ( i don't know which, but better be sure than sorry)
Checklist:
My code follows the style guidelines of this project (cargo fmt)
I have performed a self-review of my code
I have commented my code, particularly in hard-to-understand areas
I have made corresponding changes to the mdBook documentation
My changes generate no new warnings (clippy/clang)
New and existing unit tests pass locally with my changes (either use nix flake check or wait for the ci)
This is pretty much useless, this can be computed by the client itself, and a non launchable gpu (IE: blocked) should just print a warning and not block the execution
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.

📝 Summary
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
GPU listings can now include additional device metadata, including NVIDIA minor numbers when available.
Changes
GPU selection now considers available devices without filtering or rejecting them based on launchability; unavailable devices remain excluded.
The GPU launchability property has been removed from the interface.
Bug Fixes
GPU inode collection can continue when an NVIDIA inode lookup fails, retaining any results already collected.
GPU metadata now uses an additional-properties map across core, D-Bus, and CLI types. The D-Bus launchability property and CLI launchability checks are removed. NVIDIA inode lookup failures are logged without stopping inode collection.
GpuDevice stores typed additional properties. nvidia_minor() reads the nvidia_minor entry, and model tests use the new map.
GPU enumeration and inode lookup crates/cardwire-core/src/gpu/enumerator.rs, crates/cardwire-core/src/gpu/inode.rs
GPU enumeration passes property maps to GpuDevice and adds nvidia_minor for supported NVIDIA paths. get_inodes logs NVIDIA inode lookup failures and continues collecting inodes.
D-Bus property transport and interface crates/cardwire-dbus/src/types.rs, crates/cardwire-dbus/src/gpus.rs, crates/cardwire-daemon/src/interface/gpu.rs
DbusGpuDevice carries additional properties as OwnedValue values. The GPU D-Bus interface no longer exposes launchable; daemon inode and blocked-state checks use the updated accessor.
CLI display and GPU selection crates/cardwire-cli/src/display.rs, crates/cardwire-cli/src/dbus.rs, crates/cardwire-cli/src/main.rs
The CLI display type uses additional_properties. GPU selection no longer checks launchable, while automatic selection still excludes unavailable devices. The CLI D-Bus launchability method is removed.
Automatic launches may choose an unusable GPU in laptop or manual configurations; selection filtering should be corrected before merge.

Review comments at @crates/cardwire-cli/src/display.rs:
- Line 151: Update the JSON serialization test fixture that initializes
additional_properties to include nvidia_minor, then assert that the property
appears with the expected value in serialized JSON and is preserved after
deserialization. Cover the OwnedValue path used by list --json.
Review comments at @crates/cardwire-cli/src/main.rs:
- Line 250: Update the automatic-selection filtering around available_gpu.retain
to apply mode-aware launchability using the current mode from get_mode() and
each GPU’s blocked status, so blocked discrete GPUs are excluded when the mode
is not Smart and an unblocked option exists. Keep explicit GPU selection
separate and unchanged.
Review comments at @crates/cardwire-core/src/gpu/inode.rs:
- Line 70: Update get_inodes and the blocking path around sync_inodes so a
failed NVIDIA inode lookup cannot be recorded or applied as a complete set;
propagate the lookup error or explicitly mark the result incomplete and reject
the block until all NVIDIA nodes are tracked.
Review comments at @crates/cardwire-dbus/src/types.rs:
- Line 19: Update the GUI’s DbusGpuDevice response type to match GetDevice by
accepting additional_properties, then extract its nvidia_minor value when
constructing GpuDevice so get_devices_list preserves the GPU’s minor identifier.

- Around line 260-265: Update the GPU selection branches in `Launch` so an
explicit `gpu` request that references a missing GPU returns `None` rather than
falling through to automatic selection. In the `Laptop` branch, also return
`None` when the requested GPU is blocked and the mode is not `Smart`; leave
automatic selection for cases where no GPU was explicitly requested.
- Around line 301-307: Update the automatic GPU ranking in the
SystemType::Manual selection path to prioritize unblocked GPUs by making
!gpu.blocked the first max_by_key tuple element. Keep explicit --gpu selection
behavior unchanged.
