OpenSave runs in the background, and with Go's default (let the heap double before collecting) a large save's manifests showed up as twice their size in Task Manager. GOGC 50 and a 1 GiB soft memory limit make the runtime collect and return memory sooner, for a little CPU. GOGC and GOMEMLIMIT set in the environment still win.
