PyDay Chile 2020 in _data/archive.yml had this link:

https://pydhttps//web.archive.org/web/20201103151233/https://pyday.cl/ay.cl/

46f9a73 ("legacy: pydays", 2024-09-22) added the entry with a Wayback snapshot URL pasted into the middle of https://pyday.cl/, which split it into https://pyd and ay.cl/. The other entries in that commit use the snapshot URL itself, so this PR changes the link to:

https://web.archive.org/web/20201103151233/https://pyday.cl/

This is the only mangled URL in the three data files. I checked them all for a scheme without its colon, http inside a host name, and web.archive.org anywhere but the start of a URL.

The network policy of this session's environment blocks web.archive.org and pyday.cl, so I could not open the snapshot. The new link is the snapshot URL exactly as the old value contained it.

Checks

  • uv run --python 3.11 ... python utils/sort_yaml.py --skip_links: exit 0, and the diff is still the one changed line.
  • pre-commit run --files _data/archive.yml: check-yaml and the whitespace and end-of-file hooks pass.

46f9a73 pasted the Wayback snapshot URL into the middle of
https://pyday.cl/, which left
https://pydhttps//web.archive.org/web/20201103151233/https://pyday.cl/ay.cl/.
The link is now the snapshot URL itself.

Routine review

1. Request

No linked issue. The request is the PR description: fix the one mangled link of PyDay Chile 2020 in _data/archive.yml (https://pydhttps//web.archive.org/web/20201103151233/https://pyday.cl/ay.cl/) by changing it to the Wayback snapshot it contains, https://web.archive.org/web/20201103151233/https://pyday.cl/. The PR changes only that one entry.

2. Checked against

  • date: Thu Oct 15 13:24:07 UTC 2026.
  • unverified: that https://web.archive.org/web/20201103151233/https://pyday.cl/ resolves and shows PyDay Chile 2020 (Online, 2020-12-05). The sandbox blocks web.archive.org: curl: (56) CONNECT tunnel failed, response 403, and WebFetch answered "unable to fetch from web.archive.org".
  • From the repository, no network needed: the old value is https://pyd + https//web.archive.org/web/20201103151233/https://pyday.cl/ + ay.cl/, so the new link is the embedded snapshot URL with the scheme's colon put back. The other Wayback links that 46f9a73 ("legacy: pydays") added use the same https://web.archive.org/web/<timestamp>/<url> form, e.g. https://web.archive.org/web/20200923073841/https://pereira.pyday.co/.

3. Needs your decision

None.

4. Findings

None.

5. Tests

No test covers this. It is a data fix, and the schema only checks URL format (REVIEW.md, "Leave alone"), which the old value passed as well.

Change (daf8f57):

  • uv run --python 3.11 --with "pandas<2.3",pyyaml,pydantic,pytz,thefuzz,iso3166,icalendar,tqdm,requests python utils/sort_yaml.py --skip_links: exit 0, last line 🎉 Conference data sorting and cleaning completed successfully (Writing 70 active … 610 expired … 552 legacy). git diff --stat -- _data afterwards: empty, so the post-merge sort will not rewrite anything.
  • npm ci && npm test: Test Suites: 15 passed, 15 total, Tests: 423 passed, 423 total. These don't touch this diff; I ran them because the routine's generic toolchain step picks package.json.
  • I didn't run the Python tests or ruff because no Python changed (REVIEW.md "Checks").

6. Bounds

  • Route: gh api REST for the PR and diff, plus a clone with refs/pull/505/head checked out. rev-parse matched daf8f57.
  • Read in full: the diff, the entry and its neighbours in _data/archive.yml, the link: lines that 46f9a73 added, and REVIEW.md, CONTRIBUTING.md and AGENTS.md from main.
  • Could not run: fetching the snapshot (see Checked against). REVIEW.md's "link disagrees with the conference's own website" check therefore rests only on the URL coming from the old value, not on the page itself.
  • My grep of the three data files for https?// and for URLs nested in other URLs outside a Wayback prefix found no other mangled link. That agrees with the PR's claim.
  • Pre-existing: two links point to Wayback wildcard or calendar pages instead of a snapshot: _data/archive.yml:5749 (https://web.archive.org/web/20220801000000*/https://pycon.ee/) and _data/legacy.yml:3163 (https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://2018.es.pycon.org/).
