ci: make the readme static so Dependabot can build the editable install (#1968) - #1994
Conversation
#1968) - pyproject.toml declares readme statically; setup.py no longer passes a long description. Dependabot's stub setup.py supplied none, so the Pipfile's editable pypcapkit failed to build and every root pip update failed with it. - dependabot.yml's pip entry excludes conda/requirements.txt, which the root job read from one directory down. - MANIFEST.in's note on reading README.md now names pyproject.toml.

Fixes main's red
Dependabotcheck. The pip version-update job failed on every rootPipfiledev-package, starting withInvalid requirement: 'vermin=='.Root cause.
setup.pywith a stub that passes no long description.pyproject.tomldeclaredreadmedynamic, so building the Pipfile's editablepypcapkitfailed.pipenv upgrade 'vermin=='with a nil version.Fix.
readmeis now static inpyproject.toml, andsetup.pyno longer readsREADME.md.Dynamic: description*lines.setup.py, the job'spipenv upgradeexits 1 onmainand 0 here.Also.
/job readconda/requirements.txt, though the config says it is left out. That file is where the cryptography bump came from.exclude-pathsnow skips it. In dependabot-core (FileFiltering.exclude_path?), the pattern matches the path from the repository root.Tests. New tests in
