Git checkout creates an empty directory for Recoil's tracked BARb submodule. The fresh HighBar clone previously rejected that placeholder after dependency compilation. The recipe now verifies the exact tracked gitlink against authenticated HEAD and removes only its empty checkout directory before fetching the existing pinned HighBar source. Links or any existing content still refuse replacement.
Validation: eleven inert controls pass, including genuine Git checkout, empty-placeholder handling and preservation of nonempty or linked destinations. Python preflight and whitespace checks pass. Independent source review found no material defect. Plugin compilation, full image commit and native ABI/gameplay remain pending.
