Run dependency reads and writes on each VM’s private local disk, then seal the directory into a compressed archive in its private Modal Volume namespace during post cleanup. The control plane still publishes only successful default-branch jobs. This avoids per-file remote filesystem reads and slow recursive Volume copies during runner provisioning.
The canary uses the checked-out action so pull requests test the candidate. Three local Node tests cover byte-for-byte archive restoration, original-runner compatibility, and unmounted actions.
