The nav logo and the Open Graph card both used a speech bubble I drew, which was not the brand mark.

The real mark — a blue bubble with three dots — ships in the server repo at icons/regular, so both now use it.

Changes

  • Nav logo — the drawn path and its tinted rounded-square container are both gone. The icon carries its own colour and shape, so wrapping it in a blue square was fighting it. Served as WebP at 1x and 2x: 866 B and 1746 B.
  • og-default.png — regenerated with the real icon composited in place of the drawn one.

Not changed

The site's favicon.ico and apple-touch-icon.png were already the real mark, carried over from the old site. Left alone.

Verified: icon loads at 28×28 with a 2x variant, stays visible in dark mode, is aria-hidden with an empty alt (the adjacent "BlueBubbles" wordmark is the accessible name), and no trace of the drawn path remains in the build.

The nav logo and the Open Graph card both used a speech bubble drawn here,
which was not the brand mark. The actual mark -- a blue bubble with three
dots -- ships in the server repo at icons/regular, so both now use it.

The nav drops the tinted rounded-square container along with the drawn
path: the icon carries its own colour and shape, so wrapping it in a blue
square was fighting it. Served as WebP at 1x and 2x, 866 and 1746 bytes.

The site's favicon and apple-touch-icon were already the real mark,
carried over from the old site, so they are untouched.

The existing apple-touch-icon was a 192x192 export with a full alpha
channel. iOS does not support transparency in a touch icon: it composites
transparent pixels to black, so on a home screen the bubble was sitting on
a black square rather than on an icon tile. It was also a soft
low-resolution export.

Now generated from the 512px brand icon at the standard 180x180, on an
opaque white tile, with the alpha channel removed outright -- flatten()
alone still emitted a fourth channel, so removeAlpha() is doing real work
here. Verified: hasAlpha false, 3 channels, corner pixel 255,255,255.

No extra padding is added: the source artwork already carries about 6% of
its own margin, which keeps the bubble clear of the corner mask iOS applies
while still filling the tile.
