Hi, I'm Brett Reinhard (BaReinhard) 🚀

I am a Lead Software Engineer and Technical Leader based in the Los Angeles area. I specialize in building scale-driven infrastructure, automating complex enterprise workflows, and pioneering the integration of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to refactor and modernize high-traffic production ecosystems.


💼 The Origin Story: Operational Necessity to Enterprise Cloud Architecture

My path into software engineering was entirely problem-driven. During a 10-year tenure as a Health & Fitness Director for a company contracted by NBC, I faced massive administrative bottlenecks managing manual spreadsheet data for our internal Fitness Rewards Program (FRP). Rather than accept operational constraints, I taught myself to program to solve the problem from the ground up:

  • The Excel Automation Catalyst: I wrote custom VBA scripts in Excel to fully automate participant tracking, management, and onboarding/offboarding workflows.
  • Full-Stack & Kiosk Evolution: As requirements grew, I scaled this logic into a custom full-stack application that integrated with third-party facility software and a physical turnstile kiosk to automate physical access control.
  • Early Cloud Migration: To manage the expanding system, I built a dedicated administrative portal, leveraging early Azure platforms to deploy standalone databases and host server-side web applications.
  • The Impact of Mentorship: I credit the velocity of this transition to my progressive manager at the time, Andy Leskin, and company owner Bruce Gaims, who recognized my analytical drive and authorized me to utilize significant company hours to build out these tools and master software design.

Following this enterprise-level proof of concept, I formalized my technical foundations by diving deep into Linux environments and completing a core computer science programming path before transitioning into formal engineering roles.

Currently, I serve as a Lead Engineer at Ticketmaster, where I manage high-traffic, massive-scale systems.

  • Ecosystem Re-Architecture: My team is on the bleeding edge of leveraging Generative AI, LLMs, and agentic workflows to automate complex code refactoring, system maintenance, and infrastructure modernization.
  • AI Tooling Integration: We specialize in embedding AI deeply into daily infrastructure operations—building robust, automated support systems that securely refactor legacy constraints into clean, modern architectures while preserving platform stability.

⚡ Open Source, Maker, & Hardware Contributions

Outside of corporate software architecture, I am deeply embedded in the open-source community, maintaining over 110 repositories exploring the intersection of software, hardware, and AI.

  • Commercial Hardware Proof-of-Concept (ssrpari): I authored the Super-Simple-Raspberry-Pi-Audio-Receiver-Install script. When an NBC-contracted facility needed an affordable audio setup, I used ssrpari to provision a Raspberry Pi paired with a HiFiBerry HAT. For roughly $100, we deployed a production-grade Bluetooth and AirPlay solution for their wellness room, bypassing thousands of dollars in commercial hardware costs.
  • Industry Recognition: The ssrpari installer became so widely utilized in the maker community that premier audio hardware providers like HiFiBerry integrated my code fork directly into their official product documentation.
  • Early Ecosystem Contributions: I was an early contributor to the popular lightshow-pi project, where I developed an automated Twitter integration for the platform.
  • DIY Technical Writing: Under my handle BaReinhard, I have published multiple technical guides on Instructables, detailing low-cost multi-room audio and streaming alternatives.
  • AI Tooling Experiments: I actively explore standalone AI capabilities, including a custom system that captures microphone audio, streams live transcriptions, interfaces directly with the OpenAI API, and handles local text-to-speech feedback.
