Latest release (2.0.2) still uses xsd version 1?

I wanted to test the version 2.0.2 of this tool expecting that the DIP xsd is already in version 2 but it is still in 1. Is this intended?

I would like to contribute by testing the DIP version 2.

PS: You mentioned on the CONTRIBUTING.md that a java version 25 is needed for dev environment but the maven compiles it with java version 17?

Yeah you can use newer Java version and still compile to an older language level ;)
But you can also use Java 17 or 21.

The file is distributed centrally in our projects and it always points to the latest Java LTS.
