storage administration apps for bootstrapping workspaces #27

Description

@elf-pavlik

I brought it up during last two calls. I think in many cases someone acting as storage administrator will use dedicated app(s) for bootstrapping workspaces in that storage. At the same time many non admin apps will expect already bootstrapped workspace.

We can compare it to some degree with self-hosting solutions like:

where admin can 'one click' deploy full stack app to make it available to end users. In Solid ecosystem I would see in similar way storage admin bootstrapping a workspace which later users can interact with using any compatible app of their choice. This bootstrapping step would very likely involve:

  • setting up shapes used for validation and discovery
  • setting up footprints
  • setting up initial ACLs

While I would anticipate great diversity in end user applications, I think people will need less diversity in apps for storage administration (possibly comparable diversity in linux package managers) and those can still have option to use common layouts (footprints + shapes) as discussed in #25
