no game music

Hello!

Using wine version when you start the game at first Sam appearance you can hear intense music, using this binary here is no music.

This builds include binaries + libraries for work with ogg music files. Only you must copy all libraries and binaries within "Bin" folder of game.

First look, shows me here is no difference between your and ptitSeb difference in source. Are you implying here is a missing ogg and vorbis librarys in the build? I have those installed as system libraries.

I could use your biraries, but here is a nice script which helps me download and compile game engine which I currenlty use.

My script produce ssam-tfe 3M. Yours build is 26M of size. What is wrong here?

My build is 26M because have debug symbols. You can strip it with the following command:

$ strip --strip-all ssam-tfe.x86_64 (or ssam-tfe.x86)

Stripped binary size is the same that you (3M). Regarding ogg and vorbis, the libraries in the system do not work. You must compile them yourself and copy them into the "Bin" folder. I don't understand why, but that's the way it is.

I see what is going on here. ssam is missing 'vorbisfile' dependency. Seems like it is loaded manually by game engine.

EDIT: copying system library into game folder just enough, Proper solution would be changing CMakefile to include this dependency for linux systems.

I can confirm that sudo ln -sf /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libvorbisfile.so.3.3.8 /usr/lib/serious-engine/tfe/Bin/libvorbisfile.so (only this way, without version suffix) fixes music on Debian sid.

The problem lies with the fact that the game want to dlopen() libvorbisfile.so at runtime, instead of link against it at build time.
I never noticed that before because I had the package libvorbis-dev installed with the libvorbisfile.so symlink

I don't understand why the code does that, because it requires the presence of libvorbis development files during the build anyway, so it would just be easier to have a hard dependency and rip the dlopen()/dlsym() dance.

@Vladimir-csp the updated package (version 0~git20250928+dfsg-2) in Debian sid should have it fixed, no need for a symlink in /usr/lib/serious-engine/tfe/Bin/ anymore

Well it's very easy to also try to open libvorbisfile.so.3as a fallback. I'll see if I find the time to add that option.

sure the fallback thing is easy, but it's not future proof.
we don't know what will be the next SONAME if/when libvorbis breaks their ABI the next time: 4 ? 3a ? 3b ?

In that case, a static link would work only if you recompile everything. The dlopen is here to allow multiple sound driver in the same binary. ther is nothing really wrong with this approach, it has been used a lot.

Well, the static link is preferable for OS/Package maintenair. While for regular user that want to compile their own version, the dynamicaly linked version is maybe better?

I notice your patch also remove the whole "USE_TREMOR" patch (that is used for low cpu-power platform, like 32bits arm, where the full vorbis decoder can eat a significant amount of cpu cycle)
