AppImage request: KDE Connect (crashes on Send File / Browse Device)

Hi,

I would like to request the creation of an AppImage for KDE Connect.
The package is available in the Arch Linux official repositories here:
https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/kdeconnect/

Additionally, I would like to report a critical bug from a previous AppImage attempt. The application is able to launch and connect, but it immediately crashes (closes abruptly) whenever I try to click on "Send File" or "Browse Device".

This crash is likely caused by missing KDE framework components (like KIO modules), dbus integration issues, or missing file system dependencies (such as sshfs which KDE Connect uses to mount/browse remote devices) inside the AppImage sandbox.

Could you please look into packaging this and see if the file transfer and browsing features can be made fully functional?

That "Browser device" and "Send files" are part of kdeconnect-indicator

This has been super buggy for me, even before this appimage repo existed.

One of my first projects I made was this https://github.com/Samueru-sama/kdeconnect-any-filemanager

Which allows you to access the phone filesystem using kdeconnect without using kdeconnect-indicator, it automatically uses kdeconnect-cli sshfs and qdbus6 to mount my phone in ~/Phone.

That means the appimage needs to be in PATH as kdeconnect-cli, if you installed this with AM all you need to do is copy the kdeconnect symlink and make a different copy next to it named kdeconnect-cli, the appimage automatically knows what to launch based on the name of the symlink you execute.

iirc this is a bug in kdeconnect-indicator, try adding /storage/emulated/0 to the end of that path.

It is trying to access the root filesystem of the phone, but most android phones are not rooted, so you are not able to see anything there.

Why are are you bundling dolphin?

What are we missing exactly? That script just throws the entire kitchen sink including all of /usr/lib/qt6/plugins/plasma which is super overkill 🤨

This makes no sense. QML deployment already does this automatically and it gets turned on automatically when something links to libQt*Qml*.so
