From ddd4401ec4ded9633ce3a1af1d67a53ced7924c0 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Erik Tews Date: Thu, 17 Sep 2026 21:40:17 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] Mention to update the Nginx configuration when using an external proxy when upgrading to OpenCloud 8.x.x. The Nginx configuration template of OpenCloud 7.x.x doesn't have a dedicated location block enabling web sockets for the yjs collaboration service yet and without such a block, web socket connections can't be established and collaborative editing won't work with OpenCloud 8.x.x behind an external Nginx reverse proxy. This commit adds a paragraph about this to the upgrade guide. --- .../maintenance/upgrade/upgrade-8.x.x.md | 21 +++++++++++++++++++ 1 file changed, 21 insertions(+) diff --git a/docs/admin/maintenance/upgrade/upgrade-8.x.x.md b/docs/admin/maintenance/upgrade/upgrade-8.x.x.md index 81c61dccb..fcdb27ec0 100644 --- a/docs/admin/maintenance/upgrade/upgrade-8.x.x.md +++ b/docs/admin/maintenance/upgrade/upgrade-8.x.x.md @@ -19,6 +19,27 @@ OpenCloud 8.x.x is a Rolling release and is not intended for production environm ::: +## External proxy + +Should you be using Nginx as an external proxy, then you need to upgrade your [Nginx configuration](../../getting-started/container/docker-compose/docker-external-proxy.md). This creates a new, versioned index (e.g. `bleve-v5` / `opencloud-resources-v5`) and leaves the old one in place until you remove it.
