Support for native Linux devices (i.e. Pi Zero 2)

Hello!

Is there a plan or roadmap to support native Linux devices in the future?

I have a Pi Zero 2W with Lora HAT that I was hoping to use as a Room Server node but it doesn't seem to have support yet.

we are open to PRs regarding linux native support. as the codebase tries to be framework-agnostic, it might be viable to just create new variant that will use linux native - without use of portduino.

• A lightweight Repeater Daemon implemented in Python, built using the pymc_core library

Hello, device user here ... not a developer.

I'm impressed that I was able to download from the main MeshCore website a Windows app that allowed me to connect easily to a companion device via Bluetooth. I did this on an old laptop easily. I'm hoping this development thread will result in a similar easy to install app for MC on any Linux computer, not just for the Pi family. I also would prefer that the app use Bluetooth so Lora boards without wifi can still be used. What would be ideal is being able to chose connecting to a companion radio via serial or via bluetooth as the USB serial connection would serve power as well as connectivity.

Related note: I'm going to try to setup a Room Server next. I'm concerned about how many users can have messages stored on the memory of these tiny devices. If a PC is connected 24/7 to a Room Server radio ... could in theory the SSD of the PC running Windows or Linux be available for storage to create a super sized BBS system? In this case a small laptop. micro, or Pi could run 24/7 connected to the radio.

I used @ggodlewski PR (for Pi Zero) and made a working config for a Waveshare SX12xx LoRa hat on a Pi 4B.

If any of the meshcore devs could give us a review, we could maybe get this upstreamed.

I created an updated PR #2025 to continue working on #1137.

I'll maintain a fork until this is merged upstream and try to regulary rebase the work so we don't lack behind. Fork: https://github.com/l5yth/meshcore-linux/tree/linux branch linux. See variants/linux/README.md for details on setting this up.

Thank you ... I think.  I don't know how to follow all the details in the development pages of Github.  I'm assuming this is in reference to my requests elsewhere for there to be working USB connection support in the Linux and Windows apps.  FWIW, I don't use any Pi devices, everything I use is a Linux distro (often Mint) on a pc and sometimes a vm. Just a thought: isn't there a very functional Python implementation of MeshCore with frontend (pyMC_repeater) that meets the original need from this ticket fully? Is it redundant to implement it in the core software?

Nevermind. I looked at your PR and I see the value in a native target. Definitely cool, I support it.
