Steps to Reproduce
From a fresh installation and clean workspace:
- Install Eclipse IDE for Java Developers 2026-06 (4.40.0).
- Launch Eclipse.
- Navigate to Help → Install New Software.
- Click Add.
- Enter either of the following update sites:
- Click Add/OK and wait for Eclipse to load the repository contents.
Expected Behavior
Eclipse should successfully connect to the SAP update site and display the available SAP ABAP Development Tools (ADT) components for installation.
Actual Behavior
Eclipse is unable to access the repository and displays the following error:
Unable to read repository at https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/latest/content.xml.
Unable to read repository at https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/latest/content.xml.

PKIX path building failed:
sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException:
unable to find valid certification path to requested target
Troubleshooting Performed
Before raising this issue, we performed the following checks from our side:

Verified the repository URLs:

Confirmed that the issue is consistently reproducible on a fresh Eclipse installation.

Verified Eclipse network settings under:
Help → Install New Software
Window → Preferences → General → Network Connections

Verified local machine network connectivity.

Confirmed that the repository URL is reachable outside Eclipse.

Re-tested using both the version-specific repository URL and the latest repository URL.

Cleared and recreated the Eclipse workspace to eliminate workspace-specific issues.

Verified that the issue persists after reinstalling Eclipse IDE.
