Fairly regularly people don't want to provide their true name, as they don't want their name turning up in random places, so they provide some kind of pseudonym.
Also, we get people requesting accounts for other than the intended purpose. Quite often these ones put nonsense in the fullname field.
As a PAUSE admin, it's often hard to tell the difference between the two groups. So I email them, to determine whether they should get their account.
Also, I regularly have to email people, and look at their PAUSE account to get their secret email address.
I'd like us to consider adding something like real name, so the publicly visible name can be whatever you like, but the real name is guaranteed private between the user and PAUSE admins.
