Value is blanked out/set to an empty string, then saved and closed:

Upon reopening the Template, ******** is seen again within the default value field:

Reproduction

  1. Set up a new Project in Octopus Deploy
  2. Add a new Template via Tenant Variables within the menu
  3. Give the Template a name, and set the Control Type to Sensitive/password box
  4. Set a default value for the template, save and close
  5. Reopen the Template, clear out the default value (either via the pencil icon or the trash can/remove icon), and save/close
  6. Reopen the Template and see that it still has a default value (i.e., ********)

Workaround

  1. Change the Template control type to Single-line text box, which will then show a default value of [object Object]
  2. Blank out/remove the default value and save
  3. Reopen the Template and confirm the default value field is now blank
