@InfinityLoop1308 I know you’re really busy, but I’d really appreciate it if you could take a quick look ;) Thanks so much! |

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for sharing! :) TypeBot looks promising. Is it the same as the documentation bot you proposed in InfinityLoop1308/PipePipeClient#75, or is it a separate project? Anyway, I'd like to take a look. I'm also very interested in your recommendation design, as we need something similar (like in #2422). Keep me posted on your progress! |

Hey everyone! Or at least everyone who ends up reading this :p
I wanted to give you a little update on TypeType, because the project has changed quite a lot since I first introduced it here.
At first, TypeType was a pretty small project built around PipePipeExtractor. Its structure was much simpler, and I also had a lot more time to work on it.
Now? Well, now TypeType has grown quite a bit. It has a native Android client available on F-Droid, a small community, a lot more features and, of course, quite a few bugs :P
Looking back, building TypeType around PipePipeExtractor was honestly one of the best decisions I could have made. It gave me a really solid foundation and allowed me to focus on building the rest of the application instead of having to recreate the entire extraction layer myself.
TypeType would especially not be what it is today without PipePipeExtractor's support for BiliBili and NicoNico. I do feel a bit bad that I haven't contributed more upstream, but honestly, the extractor is already so good that there has not always been much for me to fix or add. I still want to contribute whenever I have something useful to bring, though.
TypeType itself has been stable for quite a while now, and today TypeType-Android finally left its beta phase! That's a pretty important milestone for me, especially because the project keeps getting bigger and more challenging.
And now for the next big challenge: recommendations.
This request has come up again and again, both in posts and in private messages, so I'm currently working on a recommendation system.
The general idea takes inspiration from existing approaches, including Flow Neuro, but I don't want to simply copy another project. What I really want is a system that is transparent and controlled by the user.
You should be able to understand which signals are being used, choose what the feed should prioritize and disable recommendations completely if you don't want them.
This is going to take time, and that's okay. I would rather build it properly than rush out something I don't actually believe in.
I mostly wanted to share where TypeType is today, but also to say a huge thank you to @InfinityLoop1308. Without your work on PipePipeExtractor, this whole project would literally never have existed.
If you ever feel like trying TypeType, feel free to send me a message. I can give you access to a private instance running on a much better CPU :P
And if you ever need help with anything, you know how to reach me. Just ping me, no worries :)
For example, I built a small GitHub App to help manage TypeType's issues: TypeBot for TypeType. If something like that could be useful for PipePipe, I can give you access to the repository and help you set it up :p
Seriously, thank you for everything you have built with PipePipe and PipePipeExtractor. TypeType is becoming more autonomous, but it will always stand on that foundation.
